A peak Tubbs is a scary prospect. And as such beats any version of Foreman. So slick a fly tried to land on his shoulder, slipped off and broke its neck.
For the record, Tony Tubbs' peak is a six-week period in March and April of 1985, when he beat Bonecrusher and Greg Page and weighed in the high 220s. He shows up closer to 250 some 10 months later and hands Tim Witherspoon a decision, ending his peak.
Tony always had a suspect chin, so, even if he's leading on George, the first solid shot Foreman cracks him with, kayoes him.
Tony Tubbs was a good enough boxer to win some early rounds against George Foreman - Prime or comeback version.. But his chin was shaky and while he was quick, he was still hitable.. Some references have been made to Tubbs' outing with Riddick Bowe... He gave a good account of himself in this bout, but looking back at the film, Riddick wasn't fighting aggressive in that bout and at times even seemed cautious.. This is not the type of approach that a 1973 Foreman who demolished Joe Frazier and Ken Norton would take.. George would be head hunting for Tubbs and had more than enough power to push the knockout. Tony was fast and had sound boxing skills, but he was no Muhammad Ali and didn't have the whiskers to withstand a Foreman onslaught.
