Smack *Bang *Wallop and Williams is down within minutes. Cleveland bravely makes it thru to the 2 nd but Foreman drops him hard. Foreman ko 2.
90s George covers his face with sunglasses after close ten rounds. For the 70s: Even more needless thread than GF vs Michael Moorer.....
The Foreman of Frazier 1 and the Norton fights I think wins inside 3 rounds. Foreman would have to take some serious leather though unlike Frazier Williams can unload power shots from distance. I think it would be a similar firefight than the Liston v Williams fights and a similar outcome.
It's interesting 2 me that both have several similarities, yet this fight just wouldn't last long at all. Even at 2 rounds though, I'm sure it would be a helluva fight. Cleve certainly has the power 2 probably hurt Foreman, and he has the reach and quality jab 2 compete w/ George's. And Cleve was tough, but going off the Liston fight, he was obviously knocked out, and Liston was not as good at cutting off the ring as George. So George might inflict more permanent damage on Williams than Liston did. I think the 1st would be a masterful round of two beautiful jabs at work, both stalking, although Cleve always did it in in a more hurried manner. I think he shake Foreman a little at the end of the 1st round. George would cut the ring off immediately in the 2nd. Norton didn't have the power of Williams and Foreman did it against Norton. Williams was more defensive than Foreman, and would start 2 back pedal. Foreman would start 2 smell blood and chop him down. Have him stopped in a minute. It is kind of a silly thread imo. Really the only reason any one would post these kinds of threads is cuz it would be a good fight and it deserves 2 be recognized. However, we all know the outcome.
George Foreman of 1973 would have been too much for let us assume the Cleveland Big Cat Williams of 1959. Big Cat would have come forward with his muscular arms covering his face, waiting for an opening, then comes out blasting as he did against Sonny Liston. But George connects with a hard right hand, Williams staggers backwards, the gets caught in a Foreman hurricane, falling to the ground. Big Cat is saved by the bell. In round 2, George pushes Cleveland, then catches him with a solid right hand, again the whirlpool of blows, Williams hits the canvas for the full ten count. The fight was short and sweet for George.
Wow. I didn't realize that although we both expected a 2-rounder that we had such separate impressions of the 1st round.
I think Williams has a bit more success than he did against Liston, seeing as Foreman was slower, was easier to hit, and wasn't a good boxer. I think he makes it to the third, before he's brutally kod.
That is a good point swag. Not 2 mention Cleve has good boxing ability himself, which will add 2 George's troubles.
I can even potentially see Williams dropping Foreman (though a lesser version and not the prime one).
Yeah. Pre Frazier or post Zaire. However, George himself seemed more prone 2 a little boxing and a tad less aggressive in the six-fight career he had after the Rumble, which seems more likely I think. Williams of '59/ '60 vs. George of the Lyle fight, now there's a war.
Foreman would have been just too much for Cleveland to handle. Way over matched and way over powered. Liston and Forman would be a way better match up.
