Shavers also stopped Norton as well. Sometimes fighters lose/do worse vs a lesser fighter and then make a spectacular performance against a superior fighter. For various reasons.
Norton was a total shot when he fought shavers. (And now tell me that shavers would ko even prime norton etc...)it is speculation and nothing more. What he did is beating a shot fighter.period
Foreman and pretty early. I don't think Earnie can take what George would throw at him. George was also bigger and more durable, Earnie would have to get lucky.
On the other hand Shavers went 15 with Ali and a case could be made he deserved the decision. Foreman couldn't go 8 with Ali.
With the "little" detail that shavers fought a zombie ali in 1977 and foreman lost against a very good version of ali in 1974. 74 foreman stops 77 ali,i bet my house on it
In 1979 norton was finished,he had only 3 fights more and then he retired plus he looked crap in all these fights. A ****ing draw with ledoux.. It says all
Shavers chin (contrary to popular belief) actually was a very good one. His stamina was the problem. Though I agree Foreman pummels him.
The flip side is he basically matched a top version of Holmes in a grueling struggle just 9 months prior to the Shavers fight. He looked pretty good doing it. At a time when age was catching up with him the Shavers demolition probably didn't do much for him in subsequent matches.
Norton was in his prime in 73-74. He was a finished fighter at the moment he fought shavers. AND OF COURSE THAT HE WAS WELL PAST HIS PRIME WHEN HE FOUGHT HOLMES IN 1978.holmes fought the war of his life against a past prime fighter.. A 74 norton beats holmes sure
George Foreman wins this fight in an absolute flash. Having a Punchers chance won’t beat a great fighter.
That just let's us know that Norton was at least still good enough to give prime Holmes a war, so he should've been good enough to beat Shavers, if he ever could.
