George fights the post-Liston Patterson......Floyd seemed to have learned to handle heavy punches better.

Does Floyd box for 5 rds and win a decision?...or does George just blast him out ala the Frazier fight.

im sick of having to pick Patterson getting brutally knocked out by ATG HW punchers. Lets compare him to the LHW's and LHW's that moved up, like himself

The fact is that Patterson is best known as a HW despite his LHW pedigree and chin "issues". Ok how about Patterson v Camacho Sr. at LHW :D? Camacho would look as bloated as a baloon animal and Patterson probably wouldn't get KO'd...sound good?

This is a bad matchup for Patterson. Nobody can imagine him beating Foreman. But Liston was more skilledand had better timing than Foreman and Patterson improved post-Liston. Still Foreman get´s him, no doubt. Even when he fights Foreman like he did Chuvalo he will get tagged by Big George, especially those uppercuts, but he won´t be blasted out in 1 round. It will probably take a bit. Patterson´s defence is better than Frazier´s I think, he is faster and would fight more defensivly. Foreman TKO4/5.

Yes, but that's only because D'Amato saw a great opportunity to chase the HW title in an era where many MW-LHs were fighting.

Once Liston came on board...the gig was up for the MW-LH who were fighting there.

If Patterson had come around later, and if he could make some good money in the lower weight classes, I think he would have started out as a LH, won the title, stayed there for a bit and maybe..maybe then go up to HW.

Like if he was around today, he could try start out as a MW, SMW for sure, and then go to LH and possibly CW.

I believe he is one of the most skilled fighters P4P. It's just circumstance$ pu$hed him to the HW divi$ion.

    HW Champion = KING

So I think it is reasonable to discuss his chances against MW-CW...and even some of the smaller HWs that were below 200 pounds.

Floyds a notoriously slow starter and prone to getting caught cold. Big George in two max.
