My 3 favorite HW’s are all named Joe...Frazier Louis and Walcott....I think Louis could beat him, but think things go poorly for Walcott and...Frazier...well you probably already know
Foreman would be a favorite because of his power but I think the perfect opponent to foil George would be Walcott who could move well and pinpoint power punches. Marciano KO'd Walcott after 13 brutal and eventful round, Louis stoped Walcott in the 26th round 15 decison and 11th rd KO after being down 3 times so Walcott was a guy you were not going to get early. Young Foreman had stamina problem and Walcott moves and shuffles and could drop Foreman much like Jimmy Young did perhaps earlier and with more serious power. Walcott was erratic but on a good night he could do it. I would put a large wager on Walcott and should get some good odds
Jersey at his best befuddle s Foreman but I'm afraid to say Big Georgy gets him at some point ,before 10 imo
Good post, Bummy. I think JJW could pull off against Foreman what he couldn't quite do against Louis. I think JJW could be elusive enough for long enough to capitalise on young George's stamina difficulties later in the bout. I reckon JJW would plain outbox old Foreman...if Tommy Morrison could, Walcott could.
Foreman from the 70's gets outboxed and maybe even stopped. Foreman from the early 90's on the otherhand had the patience to eventually time Walcott and most likely would stop him late if Walcott got reckless, but It could go either way.
Walcott could be a nightmare for George, but at some stage I think his power would win the day for him.
Walcott messes around with 70s Foreman in the beginning, showing off the Walcott shuffle and making him miss, though Foreman lands a few blocked shots and Walcott notices how powerful he is. In the 3-4th round Foreman goes ballistic and swings wildly, Walcott counters but Foreman's chin stays true and smashes Walcott with a jab, right then left hook which puts him down for the count. Walcott outboxes 90s Foreman and gets a UD
All of the above are realistic outcomes. I guess it comes down to can Walcott stay elusive enough to avoid Foreman's big shots.
I think there are very few heavyweights from an earlier era who could have dealt with Foreman as he was in the first fight with Frazier. For example I think Foreman would have battered Joe Louis. He was so powerful that it seemed that as soon as he landed cleanly to the head it was only a matter of time before he finished his opponent off. I think a 70's Foreman would stop Walcott within 5 rounds but the 90's Foreman might end up losing a unanimous decision.
Walcott had been flattened by lesser fighters like abe Simon or light Heavyweight tiger jack fox. it is highly unlikely Walcott could take Foremans Punch over 15 rounds. both versions knock him out imo.
This. Walcott got decent rotating movement of his upper body including the head, but not that (Ali or Young) good by carrying him away on his feet. A powerpuncher can simply go for the body there. Foreman hurting Walcott is the much more likely prediction than otherwise.
