Let's say Foreman's team decides to fight Thunder after seeing Thunder destroy Crawford Grimsley.
Personally I see Foreman slowly wearing Thunder out and stopping him in later rounds.

Foreman's power was eroding at that point but he would use his smarts to stop Thunder who had a glass chin. I expect George to give up some rounds knowing that Thunder would gas.

Foreman stops Thunder in 4 rounds. Thunder was a fun fighter to watch back in the 90's. I loved USA's Tuesday Night Fights.

I liked Thunder too but he lacked skills and was too predictable to compete with the top contenders.

All Big George really has left in 1997 is that telephone-pole left jab.

Somewhere around the Grimsley or Shulz or maybe Savarese fights something happened in his right shoulder and he wasn’t ever really able to throw that hand effectively (perhaps as an uppercut, can’t recall, but not overhand or straight) again.

That makes a fight with Thunder interesting at this point. He clubbed out Grimsley and was able to beat a pretty well shot Witherspoon in this time span, but also lost to a very average Maurice Harris (by stoppage). For the most part, though, he beat lesser lights and lost to the better guys he faced.

I’m going to say George and his jab are just too much for Thunder, By not much. I don’t think George stops him but he weathers a few barrages and breaks Jimmy down for a close decision verdict, with some people convinced it was a gift.

If Tommy Morrison can outbox you, why can't Thunder? It's not like he couldn't box a little, or go the distance.

In 97 Thunder was kod by Grimsley, a journeyman he was also stopped by Byrd and floored along the way.Even that version of George would be too much for Jimmy, imo

Chris Byrd stopped Thunder ( on his feet but still). George really had nothing left in 97 but I definitely think the version that lost to Shannon Briggs would stop Jimmy.

I think Thunder was one of the only Aussie/Zealand/Samoans who didn't have a capable chin..............

Byrd floored him along the way.

It was the other way around. Thunder KO'd Grimsley in 13 seconds, including the 10 count.

You're right ! My mistake I was confusing Grimsley with Maurice Harris who ko'd Thunder that same year.
    Thanks for the correction!

I went with foreman by decision. George wasn’t knocking people out anymore by then

If Foreman's team decided to fight Thunder, it wouldn't be because Thunder looked impressive in a previous fight. Apparently at the time of the Grimsley fight Thunder was training, and ready to fight. Thunder is the kind of fighter GF avoided, big, strong, hard hitting. Seeing Thunder knock out Grimsley in 13 seconds would not help Thunder get a payday with GF. If Grimsley had knocked Thunder out in 13 seconds that would help secure a fight with GF.

Shannon Briggs and Tommy Morrison weren’t big, strong and hard-hitting?

Around the time of Thunder’s fight with Grimsley, he lost to John Ruiz and got stopped by Maurice Harris. That win was sandwiched between those two losses.

One thing Foreman wasn’t was afraid to fight Jimmy Thunder, lol.

In Pat M world GF sleeps with the lights on and is afraid of the boogie man.
