After this fight Foreman stopped fighting, became an ordained minister of a church in Houston, Texas, and devoted himself to his family and his congregation.

Ring Magazine announced that this fight was the Fight of the Year
and round 12 was the 1977 Ring Magazine Round of the Year.

    Its was an awesome fight....

I saw it and it was a great fight. Foreman, still had his power and was still a major threat. Foreman, hurt Young bad in the 7th round but Jimmy Young couldn't be denied and he really showed his skills in this fight. In almost any other era Jimmy Young would have been champion. I really liked this fight.

I have a wicked abc copy of this fight mint

  6. this just proves how overrated clay is as a puncher... Clay, after 8 rounds of 8 leads n jabs, cud barely stagger big George, and ko'd George merely out of
    attrition,

If Young Had Moar FIREPOWER he wud have stopped george w/ thE first right hand on one chin.

Cooper wud have stopped both young and foreman w/ a single hook. Yes, m8s, he was tht deadly.

What makes Young's victory important is that Big George was on his way back from the loss from Ali, he had a 5-0 record, and was aiming for another title shot...
