George Foreman vs Larry Holmes - Video

Really? Huh. I've watched that fight at least a dozen times.

Out of total respect for you, @JohnThomas1 I'll have to give it another look. Iirc (and I guess I might not), Holmes,was dodging a lot of of Holy's shots and landed more than a few solid himself.

Maybe I'll have to eat crow later.

 

I'll give it another look over the weekend as well but I've never seen anyone have Larry even level after 6 or 7. Most are about 5-2 Holyfield. If Holmes was ahead after half the fight or more there would be a lot more narrative about it both in articles and in here. The theme would have been Holmes would have won if he didn't run out of stream sort of thing.

No need to eat crow any which way we all need the memory jogged now and then!

And you might be correct, but why did you steal Foreman's comeback moniker "Big" & attributer it to Homles?
Who in his prime was ~209 lbs. at 6' 3", without appearing heavily muscled like Foreman.

 

First of all if you want to try and correct get his name spelling correct as it is Holmes not Homles. I called him Big Larry because that was one of his nicknames alongside the Easton Asassin and Big Jack. So I am not stealing anything from Foreman who was referred to as Big George as well. When Foreman started having kids he gave all of them the name George as well 2 of his daughters were named George as well, such as the one called Georgetta and the other called Frieda George. All the Foreman males had to have nicknames to differentiate themselves so Big George called himself Big Daddy at home and his sons were called Lil George, Monk, Big Wheel, Red and Little Joey. Just like you just misspelled "assassin": this was clearly just a typo.

I did not know that Holmes was ever called big anything, he was never big for a HW of his time. Any links to that nickname being used are appreciated.

 

Watch champion forever. Also watch Larry fights and listen for the comments coming from his people outside of the ring such as “ bring it up Big Jack” “ Let’s go Big Jack” “ Dig in dig in Big Jack”. You don’t need links for this they are well known facts hardly controversial.

 

Prime i like Foreman by KO and late models i see a split trilogy.
