Man you come up with some good ones. Another good fight. Mercer would certainly fight George the way George would want him too. Tough call, Mercer was in shape around this time. I think he can take old George by decision, but in a close fight.

Mercer would be a total wild card in this one.

Mercer was a tough out for any HW but I think Big George would win a close decision.

I think Old George knocks him out. Mercer is not as good as most people seem to rate him, imo.

Larry Holmes beat Mercer in a way that George never could. Holmes drew Mercer in as the aggressor, and consistently beat him to the punch.

Mercer was extremely tough, but had no problem assuming the role of boxer against Tommy Morrison. If Foreman began to impose his strength, Mercer would be willing to take that roll again.

Mercer has way to high a work rate for Foreman in 1995. Mercer by wide decision.

The massive amount of punches he took from Lewis makes me think he'd see the final bell.

this fight couldve happened instead of the foreman-Briggs fight. I would pick mercer by a SD. chances are he won't knock put mercer and it would probably be a slug fest.. mercer was pretty tough. still is. if anyone could rock merver's ****, it'd be foreman..

We should add, that as green as he was then, Value likely would've stopped either man very quickly. Right?

Mercer could punch. Holyfield hurt George. I think Mercer could stop him, and Mercer's chin was pretty solid.

    I agree.
And Mercer never demonstrated the ability to rain in the punches with the accuracy and volume Holyfield did to trouble Foreman.

If Mercer had showed up ready to wage war the way that he did against Lennox Lewis, he might have taken a decision... I think that Foreman's comeback was seriously winding down by 1995.. He was no longer looking like the man who had climbed back up to the top of the division in the earlier part of the decade. His punches appeared to have lost a lot of their snap, and he wasn't fighting 4-5 times per year anymore, but perhaps only 1-2.... I know that the time frame we're looking at is 1995, but as a sidenote, had it been Mercer in with Foreman in 1992, rather than Alex Stewart, I think Ray might have gotten him in one way or another...... The George who fought Holy in 1991, would have my vote to beat Mercer, but in 1995, it was a more even playing field..
