People may say it's a mismatch, but Foreman really does have a chance. Rex was a fine, 205 pound boxer who could move. The best Layne meets the Foreman of the Frazier fight. Who you got?

Rex Layne was one of the top heavyweights of his day and better than many give him credit for.

Maybe Layne lasts longer than Joe King Roman, maybe he doesn't.

Rexy would have his work cut out with Chuvalo and Bonavena, let alone Big George.

Layne was ranked at the end of 1950 and 1953,I don't know if he was ranked in between that.
    Among those ranked at the time were;
    Bucceroni
    Brion
    Sys
    Gardner
    Williams
    Lastarza
    Oma
    Dunlap
    Cockell
How many of them would be favourite to last 10 rds with Foreman?

Bucceroni is a good shout. So is Lastarza, Dunlap and Oma and Cockell. You're selling them short

Bucceroni was floored 5 times by non puncher Lastarza
Cockell was floored multiple times by lhvy Slade, and floored and stopped by middleweight Turpin,
Who did Dunlap and Oma beat?

You bring up some good points. Oma got a shot against Ezzard Charles for the heavyweight title if I'm not mistaken

Layne doesn’t have the style to trouble Foreman, even a fighter of the same calibre of Layne who was a mover, I’d still pick Foreman handily.
This fight would be over within 2-3 rounds at most.
