It was a bad style match for Foreman as big as he was. People asume Frazier was simular to Quawi but the Frazier Foreman fought could no longer land shots on the way in. Quawi still could. and though he was woefully disadvantaged against Foreman Quawi was able to show what the difference was between walking through shots and landing on the way in. It did not win him the fight since Quawi was not a heavyweight puncher, but it served to show that not all presure fighters would necessarily meet a Joe Frazier like fate against Foreman. Frazier could not do himself justice against a puncher like foreman once his eyesight forced him to feel his way in against the likes of stander and Daniels. He was not the same man that fought ALi.
Please look again at the Quawi fight. Foreman has little trouble with him, very little. He wears him down and demolishes him. This false narrative of Dwight causing him major problems is the biggest bull**** contention on this forum... well, maybe the 18th biggest.
I disagree. Quawi threw a lot of punches on the way in. Beating George to the draw with shorter arms. He was meeting Foreman with punches and it was this that was preventing Foreman to get off. It was nothing more sophisticated than that. mind, Quawi may as well have used a powder puff for all the good it did him because he was not a heavyweight puncher....
He does indeed but it is not as plain sailing as that. Foremans strength told in the end (and so it should have! Poor Quawi was way past his best) but there were quite a lot of mishaps along the way. Room for discussion.
Marciano's best chance is to get in there and smack Foreman on the chin. Yes, it's possible, because Foreman didn't exactly have a slick defense. But Foreman holds a lot of physical advantages, so should be favoured here.
He was also a damn sight faster with his punches than Marciano ,,perhaps that might have some bearing on matters?
Loved both fighters. Just can't see Rocky being able to do anything with prime Foreman. Marciano would be walking into atomic bombs. Foreman was deceptively quick. Ali commented on this first thing in his interview with Cosell several weeks after the fight took place. Ali was surprised how quick Foreman was. Foreman ko 2 in a one sided fight.
The idea is everyone knew Ali was quick. It was a surprise to hear Ali comment that George surprised him with his speed.
