George Foreman Vs Rocky Maricano

Rock would either get taken out early or lay one of the worst beatings in the history of the sport on Foreman. This in a fifteen round championship fight.

 

Im not a blind fanatic here. george was a great fighter who has a great chance against any heavyweight. so does marciano surly?
Peak Foreman looked like he didn’t know what he was doing but he was getting away with it because he was so strong. Any truly great, resilient fighter stands a very good chance of exploiting a kid dynamite type with no real experience or stamina, who wasn’t too sure of himself.
Marciano came across a few resilient great fighters and past that test.
The frazier and norton wins look great on paper -and on film, I admit it, but they flatter george. Ali, joe louis, jack dempsey, Marciano's legacy was not built on two wins.
Fighters are rated on when they are tested in a challenging situation.
everyone has an opinion, mine is that this is no cake walk for either guy. marciano's legacy should count for a lot more than some people think.

 

I have no pick. Would have to see it to know. Too close to call. Too many potential permutations.

First you say prime Foreman was faster than Rocky ITS A FACT!!

and then you reduce it just to I WOULD SAY he was faster - I can see your conviction (sorry correction delusion) is just starting to wain that little bit - you're even looking for back up from D'Amato - not exactly the oracle of boxing

 

Speed wise, I think both Foreman and Marciano were about the same.

Marciano would stay far away and lunge in at times to make it an inside fight. A quick KO for Marciano. Foreman could not take prolonged punishment, and that's what he would get from Marciano.

 

Foreman stopped guys early who he managed to hit flush. MArciano never got hit flush on the chin, except twice against fast, precise and unpredictable operators like Joe Walcott and Archie Moore.

Foreman's punches were very predictable, as Ali jokingly showed us in the pre-fight hype before he knocked George out. Marciano would slip Foreman's punch and get inside where George could not fight. With his very short arms, MArciano would flatten Foreman, or give him a very long beating.
