George Foreman Vs Rocky Maricano

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by pacpowerpellet, Dec 16, 2010.

  1. george foreman was not nearly in his prime mentally when he faced lyle and young. he was finished mentally post zaire. and still he did show his heart and chin, he destroyed ron lyle ( a ****ing very strong man and very hard puncher), jimmy young ran during all the fight, i doubt seriously that young might run from a motivated foreman 73-74. you forget that norton and frazier did beat muhammad ali, honestly i think that ali never did beat norton . (and foreman think it too). it is about styles, it prove nothing, foreman would absolutely kill marciano and probably before of 2 rounds and it is not even debatable, like i said , to give chance to rocky against foreman is the extreme fanatism.
george foreman would have been the king of the golden era if muhammad ali (the greatest hw ever) had not existed.
mike tyson lost against the bum buster douglas by ko , foreman lost by ud against jimmy young, a man who was stolen against ali, norton and shavers.
joe louis lost by ko against max schmeling, lennox lewis was destroyed by 2 bums, rahman and mccall, i do not care for the rematch.
evander holyfield was hurt seriously by bert cooper in his prime.(old foreman kicked the ass of cooper).
larry holmes fought the world war against spoon or past prime norton.
    jimmy young exposed ali.
AND PROBABLY ALI WOULD KICK THE ASS OF ALI,HOLYFIELD,TYSON, LEWIS ,MARCIANO,LOUIS... AS WELL.
SO THE ARGUMENT"ALI DID BEAT FOREMAN" "LYLE ALMOST DID BEAT FOREMAN" "ALMOST" ALMOST IS PURE NONSENSE. THE FACTS ARE, A BAD VERSION OF FOREMAN KNOCKED LYLE OUT, END OF THE HISTORY.

I'm not sure why you are talking about "legs". I thought the original quesiton you posed was about Marciano getting around a big reaching jab with his leaning crouch, which I outlined with specific examples.

Legs wouldn't play a big role in this match up if that's what you want to change the subject to. Foreman isn't much of cyclist, he would plant himself and hold his ground as he did against Frazier; try to set up his sweeping uppercut from the outside as Marciano worked his way in. If Rocky gets too close, he will try just push and reset rather than dance away.

Continously bringing up the age of Moore and Louis does little to discredit their very apparent and proven abilities.

    Ok, then.
No shame in losing to Ali.
Pre-Zaire, he beat Frazier and Norton. The rest were basically meaningless opponents.
He beat those two guys, good. But it's only two guys.

I don't know who would win.
If I was forced to bet, I'd bet Foreman, his strength gives him the edge.

But Foreman wasn't hard to hit, he didn't really used his reach well, and Marciano would have nailed him. That makes it anyone's fight.

rocky wouldn't get near to george to nail him.he's out-gunned and doesn't take a punch as well, bleeds on request and is much smaller.
    its a no contest

with his hands being so low and him in a crouch position marciano would get pummeled by left and right uppercuts foreman wins by early kayo:think

  7. your fanatism is really comic, you would be capable to say rocky would beat king kong. like you know i did pick marciano to beat larry holmes, i like rocky, and he was a gentleman and he had the heart of a gladiator, but you are defending the undebatable thing .george foreman was more than wrong for rocky, foreman was bigger, stronger, harder puncher, he had longer reach, he had great chin, great heart, he had more strength,FOREMAN WAS EVEN FASTER THAN MARCIANO WITH LEGS AND HANDS !!!! and george destroy short punchers(hws), marciano was not even a hw, foreman would push back rocky like a doll, simple.
listen,a prime george foreman probably would HAVE DESTROYED EVERY RIVAL OF MARCIANO,(marciano did not face even a prime charles, who would have been the only who might give foreman a fight), a prime marciano in the 60s-70s probably would lose against frazier, liston, ali, foreman.

guys like holmes, ron lyle ,earnie shavers, quarry, chuvalo, ellis (even bonavena and patterson) would give rocky the hell of his life.

Everyone managed to hit George. I seen little mexican roadsweepers land on George's chin. He had no defense. Sure, he could spin a man, or push him, but usually after he'd been hit.

Fair enough, you love to be critical of Marciano and mock his ability. But you're giving Foreman too much credit. Rocky would get near him, because George stood there, right on top of his man, wide open, hands swinging by his sides, chin sticking out in the air.
    Watch the film.

Ok. But Foreman had limitations too. He's just really easy to hit, more so than Rocky. Sure, he had a good chin, but Rocky had a great punch. So, like I said, it's anyone's fight.
I'd lean towards Foreman, but how can it be a mismatch when Marciano's bound to nail him ?
Rocky was a really hard puncher.

  11. only?

foreman did beat goyo peralta twice with records 77-5/82-6
    george chuvalo.

29 years old joe frazier, undefeated and who did beat muhammad ali.
ken norton broke the jaw of ali and honestly i think that norton won the 3 fights.

well, who did beat prime ali 64-67 really? past prime liston? henrry cooper? past prime patterson? cleveland williams whit a shot in the body? 137 years old archie moore?

but still i think that ali was the best in his prime 64-67 but he never faced the best rivals in his prime. ali 70s was other history.

and i want to say that george foreman not just did beat frazier and norton, HE KILLED IN 2 ROUNDS TO 2 MEN WHO DID BEAT MUHAMMAD ALI. THE KEY FACTOR IS THE WAY HOW HE WON

rocky was a big puncher, had a great chin and gets 10/10 in the heart and stamina department but that is at 187lb and would be giving away too much weight to foreman

    He destroyed them.
Still, that doesn't mean he destroys everyone.

So, you don't think he could hurt Foreman when he lands on his chin ?
