I think this would have been the greatest shootout in Olympic history. I don't know for sure but I believe I might take Stevenson.

    Amateur fight? 4 rounds?
Foreman destroys him. He would not have to save stamina so he would be happy landing everything he had. You are not taking haymakers from George Foreman during 4 rounds

I don't know, Stevenson threw straight punches and when they landed it looked like fighters were being electrocuted, from one shot! George was pretty green and threw wider punches .

Ohh you are talking about amateur 18 years old Foreman? Mmm then maybe teofilo by decision but Foreman could take him out, Foreman is no mediocre john Tate

George could very well win this even so young, when asked about the potential fight with George after a bout Stevenson had his translator say to an interviewer and George himself he wouldn’t fight him that he (Foreman) was a pro and he an amateur... suggesting to me something obvious.

Btw this woman translator was trash mate. I am spanish. Teofilo meant that this fight could not happen because Foreman was fighting at pro and he at an amateur but even like a Foreman fan, i tell you that he did not mean what i believe that you suggest

Imagine 1968 Mexico City Olympic champion George Foreman vs Teofilo Stevenson, perineal Olympic champion in a 4 round heavyweight bout. Teofilo fights out of a straight up European style, extending a straight left jab and a very potent right cross that has sent many into dreamland throughout his amateur career. George does go for the home run punch early as well, but once he senses an opponent is hurt, he does not let up firing hay makers. Foreman would fight smartly against Stevenson, stepping back when he throws his electrocuting straight right hand, and countering with his right. The first round is even as both are very cautious as the two combatants respect one another's power. In round two, Teofilo attempts a right hand that has been set up by a left, but George beats him to the punch with a right hand of his own, it crashes hard against Stevenson's jaw, he staggers back, then Foreman lands his whirlwind of hard blows. Stevenson attempts to clinch, but George pushes him off, Foreman continues to land as Teofilo slides to the canvas, taking the full ten count in round 2.

    Interesting fight.
Stevenson was a beast, in Olympic terms. His right hand was deadly and he was much more skilled than the Olympic version of Foreman, more experienced, just as big, maybe bigger. He had a huge reach.

But 1968 Foreman was a force of nature and no amateur would ever be safe with him. He was beating up good, experienced boxers in the Olympics, 3 of them were "East Bloc" (Poland, Romania, Soviet Union), and the other was a solid Italian. He wasn't beating guys who were only there to make up numbers.

    It's a 50-50.

Just as big? Stevenson was taller but no way he was as big,he was skinny like hell. Foreman was bulkier

That right hand wasn`t that good, Tate was really bad at speaking.
