George Foreman: Was Rumble in the Jungle fixed?

Reminds me of the scorecards having Tyson winning vs Douglas before getting put to sleep.

 

It's been about twenty years since I watched it. I'll watch it again sometime. You may be right. My recollection of the fight, taken with a grain of salt since I was still new to boxing, was that Foreman was thrashing Ali along the ropes and then Ali turned it around in the last fifteen seconds, kind of like Castro vs Jackson 1.

Yeah...Except for the reflecting what took place in the fight part.

It's worth checking out. Fun, fast paced fight. Ali did take some decent shots, but rolled and slipped many more. He won the first outright by landing about a dozen lead rights, and rounds 5 in particular featured good two way action with Foreman accelerating early and then Ali roaring back to take the round.

 

Ali not top 10? Absurd. Absolutely and completely absurd.

 

Did I touch a nerve? Just rub your coochie with your finger buddy, the pain will go away.

 

No need buddy. Europe and Eastern Europe are doing great. As for Africa ,what do you want me to say? I'm from Detroit, MI and I don't care about there or Europe.

Highly doubt RITJ was fixed. Foreman just soiled the bed tactically and punched himself out, Ali outmanoeuvred him. I do believe Big George's status as favourite prior to the fight was wholly justified and I would've favoured Foreman in a rematch. That said, I can't take credit from Ali for what was a great performance and a monumental win in historical terms.

The greatness of Muhammad Ali isn't up for debate but I do believe his ability h2h is overrated, the following factors help explain why that could be the case:

-Stacked resume beating a plethora of styles as well as all the main rivals of his (golden) era(s).

-Attractive fighting style almost unique at heavyweight.

-Displayed incredible endurance and toughness both mentally and physically.

-American.

-Charismatic personality, showman.

-Is the most iconic sporting figure in history.

 

And that was a 32 Year old Ali against a 24 Year old Prime Foreman...He was just to good for Big George and I rate George in my Top 3 Heavyweights...

 

There were a lot of dirty tricks played on Foreman before the fight. Made Foreman nervous, Foreman was not in good shape for that fight. Read Ali's book from years ago...............

Gathering his courage to face mighty Bermane Stiverne for the second time wipes the floor with anything Ali did. There. I said it.
