I think big George is worrying about his own spot on the ATG list slipping down a place eventually :good

Surely being dragged into a war with an inferior opponent is a bad thing? Wladimir is good because he doesn't get dragged into wars, he beats world class fighters like Byrd, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Haye with what looks like ease. Prime Peter gave him a fight but he overcame it to win

In other sports if an athlete or team is dominant and beats their opposition in one sided fashion every time it is seen as a good thing

If this era was competitive it wouldn't be considered weak.
Every man who say that this is the weakest era ever have to be prophet.
How can you know? Every era with dominant champion(the man who got exceptional set of characteristics) is claimed weak. It's claimed weak because no one can give a champ a real competition(people actually forget that holmes struggled against them). If Ali was good enough to dominate Fraizer or had punching power to knock him out and would totally outclass every other opponent his era would be considered SOOO SHITY.
Who can say that first peter fight wasn't entertaining? Wlad actually still fights pretty entertaining when fighters come at him but he also have bi power that makes his opponent's reluctant. Peter 2 was pretty much punch fest until Peter stopped pressing.

Yes wlad does not have great finishing ability(or mentality if you will) but when pressed he throws a lot and have good work rate. I guess if he fights povetkin who I think would press you'll see great amount of power shots landing on his face that will either knock him out or force in to shell like everybody else.

And George, you gave as plenty entertaining fights, you are oldest HW champion, you have pretty good chin(overrated a bit) and good power but in NO POINT of your career you would beet current Wlad, deal with it.

Although Wladimir is very accomplished, he simply has no defining win. He let that escape him with the Haye fight, which he should have been more aggressive even though it's not his fighting style it was his chance to prove his critics wrong. He's accomplished in his reign, and very skilled. But his lack of excitement and mediocre competition (Through no fault of his own) will make his name forgotten in the coming years. History is filled with dominant but boring and forgotten champions, at least to most boxing fans.

Not so sure on this part, Wladimir is certaintly more skilled than Foreman. I think would lose to Foreman due to psychological reasons more than physical, as Foreman would be very intimidating to a cautious Wlad.

It's considered the weakest era for a number of reasons. The dominance of Wlad and Vitali is only a small part of that perception.

The poor physical condition of todays heavweight division leave a lot to be desired. When contenders like Chambers, Arreola, Solis and Peter show up in such poor shape it doesn't look good.

The fact that so many naturally smaller men like Toney, Haye and Adamek can have so much success fighting in todays super heavyweight era shows a lack of depth. Especially when 2 of them in Haye and Adamek are the 2 top contenders. And even Chambers in reality could make cruiser if he wanted to.

The lack of contenders facing each other though is the biggest reason the division is deemed to be weak. In recent years the number of fights were 2 top contenders fought each other you could count on one hand. Because of this it's impossible to evaluate the worth of the contenders today because they go from fighting journeymen to losing against a Klitschko.

Who has Arreola beaten who was any good? Who had Danny Williams beaten who was any good? Who had Solis beaten who was any good?

Perfect post, couldn't have been said any better than that. I don't fault Vitali and Wladimir, because doing so would be unfair. But there's no denying it's going to have an impact on their legacy.

What's Foreman doing? Hating? I don't think so. I also happen to agree with what he's saying for the most part. All accounts.

Ali was 6 feet 3 inches tall, Quarry was only 5 feet 10 inches tall, I do not hear any complaints about that. Or, Lewis 6 feet 5 inches tall to so many of his shorter opponents, yet no complaints until the Klitschkos became the champions.......................geeeeeeeeee.............wonder why?

We would be all satisfied to have Vitali on Wlad's position.Vitali as WBO WBA IBF The Ring champ would be considered as top 10 ATG.Unfortunately 4 years break did so big damage to Vits lagacy, that it would always be less respected then Wlad's

i think your confusing the difference between a better fighter and a tuffer guy...wlad takes on the more different varietys of opponents is better in nearly every department than his big bro...vitali is tuffer and dosnt mind being hit..which is why he is liked more..but dont be foolish and stop confusing tuffness with being the better fighter

how naive are you u ****ing idiot...wlad would outbox big george big time..its not even funny how easy he would do it..big george turns slower than a double decker bus...big george quits against wlad and vitali...manny having to get wlad to go for the ko means nothing..just means he coasted thru a fight which he always does..i cant believe u even said that just means how much u dont know

Ranking and legacy is based on the QUALITY of opponents, not quantity.

Wladimir can only fight who is in front of him but his safety-first attitude will hurt his legacy. He will not be remembered fondly IMO.
