I'm a huge fan of Big George. During his comeback in the 90's he really employed his jab as a potent weapon. I really dont recall 70's foreman using his jab all that much, its natural that he would have a good jab i mean he was arguably the hardest puncher of all time and had a nice long reach. I just really remember him coming in winging hooks and wild uppercuts. Is their any fights in particular during his 70's career where he really utilizes his jab like he did in his comeback?
Oooh, boy. George Foreman's jab. Still have nightmares about it. George actually employed it in every single fight. Its just that in the 70's, he used it as a means to an end. You remember the wild hooks and uppercuts because that more defined young George's attitude: Destroy. Older Foreman was more willing to demonstrate his capable boxing skills, and he really drove the jab with his new bulk behind it. God, it HURT.
Who are you dude? Haha. Agree, comeback George had a snapping powerful jab. Hit Cooney with powershots and knocked him down with a jab. Very crafty in his comeback. Great jab. I know Magna remarked he had tasted Wlad's jab and Lewis's and now Foremans. Most formiddable?
Wlad's. George's hurt worse, but Wlad's was impossible to defend, and thus, one winds up eating it like Smarties, which SUCKS.
Very cool. Ever spar with Bowe or Tyson? If so, any comments on their power and style. Both had top tier jabs.
Foreman used his jab much more in that 90s due to wisdom and experiance. Also he didnt have the quickness he once did to lead with those power shots. He had to soften his opponent up with that Big Jab.
