You are not making any sense here, sorry? I said VERY VIOLENT, to emphasize Tysons KO power was just about on par with GF. Just pretend you never asked the question and we can move on. lmao

So if there's a violent hail of uppercuts, then there must be a peaceful hail of uppercuts, right?

I liked it on Champions Forever when Ken Norton called George Foreman an old fart.

Maybe you should watch the Ken Norton KO and inquire with the commentator as to why he used the term "vicious" when describing Foreman's left that ended it, and then let you ask him, Is there such thing as a peaceful left from foreman? Just don't be surprised if he hangs up the phone on you.

master of the obvious. Yeah, he was an old man dominating a young man's sport. Heck, he beat up the kid, Shannon Briggs in his last fight but George had to go, it was not looking good having a heavyweight champion edging up to almost 50 years old at the time ranked #1 in the world.

Steroids & PEDs were not common in boxing in the 1970's.
Any links to Perata's story is welcome, but the vast majority of trainers & fighters were worried about being "muscle bound", so many did limited or no weightlifting (but body weight excercises, & when training down to make a weight, even at HW, many shed muscle.

That a few did it does not mean it was common-like in baseball until the "Godfather" of it Conseco began popularizing it starting in the late '80s, it was very uncommon.
Citing individual cases? That is like me claiming the average HW then was at least 6' 6" & giving a bunch of names-it does not mean it was very common at all.

Almost 49 then, but I long suspected a kind of benevolent corruption.
I don't think it had to be made explicit to tank George, but I watched it at the time on HBO.

The pre-match feature was all about worry for Foreman's health, his wife wanted him to retire etc.
I think that the concern was real, even though Foreman was not evidencing any problems & had a Tremendous chin.

So they may have ruled against him semi-consciously to ease him out, although I doubt it was fear of bad PR-FOreman's success was very popular!

But ask No Neck, he might tell you Foreman lost every round against Briggs, only 3 punches landed clean, Brigg's asthma sounds made him seem like he was being beaten...

One virtue of No Neck though is that he never minds my Surreal Teasing about his view of Foreman.
Who he seems to think would lose to everyone from Manute Bol to I dunno Kevin Hart or most folks featured on "my 600 lb. life". :stirrpot :eusa_dance:

    Let's hear from
    @NoNeck

What say u on the Foreman situation? Have you been struggling to come up with new excuses to make George look like a lesser boxer? Remember, you can always go back to the 5-7 boilerplate reasons why he is not as good as the rational and objective public make him out to be. maybe try negatively tweaking his KO ratio? you know, bring up all the lesser opponents he faced, something like that.

    I kid :beer-toast1:

George Foreman 2.0, the peoples champion!

If I had to choose between the Frazier 1 fight and the Norton fight, I would choose the Frazier 1 fight. The other opponents were never heavyweight champions so IMO they were easier to destroy.

And if I were to count all Foreman's opponents, it would be José Roman. Savagery...

The double left hook tripled into an uppercut coup de grace on Gary Wiler was epic.

Be careful with that word savagery... @InMemoryofJakeLamotta might come back at you with some strange question, asking if he it was civilized instead, and then @JohnThomas1 might laugh about it. And applaud @InMemoryofJakeLamotta for his excellent sense of humor.

Are you really forcing me to be a Grammar Nazi here? Never! This is NOT what I signed up for! Lol

I'll never forget the look on George's face when the referee stopped the bout. He looked at Ken as if to say "How dare you capitulate so soon! I wanted to show the world how destructive I am" Absolutely chilling.

Excellent vid. I always chuckle at the witty way Ken describes his fight with George "I kept backing.......kept backing.....then I stumbled"
