When you think about it, it's not all that a surrealistic idea.

He has charisma. He doesn't mind saying (or lying) about whatever subject should the situation require that. He's got a lot of money. He's a smart business man. A great public speaker who can give politically correct answers, but still have a clear opinion on things (even if it changes every week). Starting from nothing and going to where he is now, he is The American Dream in the flesh. He is famous. Seriously, all he needs is a quick course on how politics work and connections. With that, you have something much better than a John Kerry. And if his detractors make films of him punching Norton while he was down, at least we get to see some fighting! :bbb

Personally, I don't think that he'd sound anymore foolish than Arnold Schwartzeneger or Jess Ventura - both television and movie personalities. Foreman did indeed come from humble beginings, then returned to poverty after his first run of success. He then did the impossible and resurrected himself.

I think Foreman is genuinely a good human being. I firmly believe that his efforts to raise money for his youth center were genuine ones, as well as his work as a minister for a decade. I don't think he had any idea how succussful his comeback was going to be, therefore I doubt that he had his own self interests in mind.

Foreman should try running for some sort of local office such as mayor of his community, or perhaps even governor of the state of Texas. I would bet money that he'd do fairly well in his campaign.

I met him once. He seemed like a nice enough guy. And I used to be a bigger George Foreman fan than I am now. I mean, I still like the guy, and I think he's pretty entertaining and engaging, but I just can't help thinking that most of what you see from George is one big con job. In fact, I've heard it mentioned from numerous people that George Foreman really isn't much different from the mean, surly, ill-tempered George from the 70's; the only difference is now he's a much better actor than he was before!

He realized that "nice George" was a better vehicle in which to make millions of dollars, George's true source of motivation for his comeback!

He's a great speaker, and he's a very intelligent guy, so I'm sure he'd do fairly well in a general election. So much of how well a person does in politics is based simply on appearances and how warm and genuine a person comes across. And Foreman is a master at presenting himself like that.

But I have to disagree with you a bit about the motives of George's comeback. I think Foreman used his "needing to raise money for his youth center" excuse for his own self-serving needs. I mean, I'm sure George cared for all the kids and wanted to continue to help them and provide a safe, positive environment for them, but I'm also certain that George just got tired of being broke - especially since he was once a very wealthy man who tasted the finest things in life - and wanted to get back to that lifestyle.

And granted, there's nothing wrong with a person wanting to be rich and working for it; I wish I were rich too! But Foreman made his comeback mission predicated on his ministry work and his youth center. But then he turns around and buys mansions and houses all over, he has a huge building stuffed with all kinds of classic/muslce/rare cars, e.t.c. He handpicked his opponents so carefully during his comeback to ensure that he remained undefeated and more importantly, "marketable", so as to ensure a multi-million dollar payday for himself.

And I remember when Foreman first launched his comeback that most sportswriters and boxing people assumed that Foreman must have been broke to be coming back to boxing. And Foreman always maintained that he was financially secure, but that he needed money to continue his youth center. But later on, after Foreman was rich again, he admitted that he had indeed been "broke as a goat" when he came back!

    Why the cover?

I've watched it so far. It clearly isn't "reality" as most of the reality shows, but it does keep me somewhat entertained fro 30 minutes. I thought it was very dumb when in the first episode he talked about another comeback.

    "I can do it!"

    "ok dad."

"Don't tell your mom though, she'll say no"

"Ok, I'm just gonna tell Big Wheel"

George is then in the gym hitting the mits and heavybag, then it switches scenes and all of the family just happens to be sitting at the counter and Big Wheel spills the news. George's wife comes walking into the gym, and George has head gear on for hitting the mits.:huh She gets all pissy and such and George walks out following her (not even sweating). They have a talk later on in the show and he decides to stay retired.

George is obviously a good actor and will lie through his teeth just so his popularity goes up. He's a good buisness man and a loving father, although I've heard he's not so lovely to fans off cameras and not in crowded boxing fan areas. George earned every penny he has, even if it meant being a fake, who's still richer than I'll ever be?

Holmes already has a TV show. It's not Nationwide, but he talks about the kids and trying to get them off of the streets. He has Joe Frazier as a guest a lot and also tries to figure out what the different nuts were thinking when they did crazy things.

Yeah and it was almost as bad as this show. I will say that the daughter that sings isn't bad looking, and the son that play's football looks like he inherited his dad's strength with that catch he made
