    Me
Me too. He clearly had that fight won. they didn't want his title reign to continue, for all the work to see the best in the world is in his late 40s.

I think it is OK for us to overrate Foreman's second career.... it was a comeback that any old man would want to relive. We are Human. I think that yes, we overrate it, and that it is OK that we do so.

What Foreman lacked in the later half of his career was the physicality to perform the "Leveraged Defense" to perfection. 'The Mummy' as Ali taunted. But guys come on, Prime Foreman vs Prime Holyfield? Foreman already beat Prime Holyfield when he took Prime Frasier apart. Would we be more likely than not to agree that Frasier beats Holyfield? I think so. Holyfield had to work to beat old man George, the fun George, George the Glorious! The Galant! The Girthy!

George Foreman's Comeback was a treat for Humanity. A nice sorbet in the middle of a hearty era in boxing. I am thankful to have been alive to watch him lure Moorer into a trap. It follows the arch of an ancient story we always love to watch.... Redemption.

And living in this time, when a LOT of effort is being put into making Redemption impossible, I find it perfectly acceptable that we overrate his comeback.

I would never call a robbery, much less one for the World’s Heavyweight Championship, for the best - but considering the next opponent for a nigh 50-year-old Foreman would’ve been peak Lennox Lewis, that decision was verging on that.

Like I said, karma for robbing Schulz and not giving him a rematch.

They gave the fight to big George. Was it fair? No. Still I don't mind him winning.

Huh? There are very few parallels between Holyfield and Frazier. Totally different fighters.

One thing we all must agree on is that he showed a hell of a chin .. he didn't;t fight the best of the biggest punchers but he did fight Morrison, Briggs , Moorer and even Holyfield ... all the guys could hit and Moorere and Holyfield, no one shot guys , hit him hard and often and he stood through it ..

Agreed. Over time people have lost sight of what that comeback truly meant and the magnitude of it at the time. The man retired from boxing for TEN years during which he was a preacher. He came back at age 39 and put together 24 strait wins in no time before taking Evander the distance. People thought he was finished. But 3.5 years after that he won the heavyweight championship of the world. It was a huge chapter in heavyweight boxing history.

Foreman fought 2 of the best 5 HWs of the 90s era. Of this group Lennox wasn't clearly the best yet, Bowes only fought Holyfield and Tyson didn't want to fight him. He fought 2/5 went 1-1 and could have won both fights.

His subsequent title opponents all had 0-1 loss. Schulz and Briggs both got title shots again after fighting Foreman. Schulz actually got 2 in a row. And Savarese and Grimsley were undefeated at the time which was perfectly fine reason to give someone a title shot when other champs did it. Tommy Morrison was an elite fighter and theres no shame in losing to him.

His non title fight opponents were standard for a contender as well. They were considerably higher quality than the guys Holmes was fighting to put streaks together.
