Seen his interview in this weeks 'Boxing News'? About as self-absolving, graceless and ungrateful as it gets.

Paddy Fitzpatrick is to blame for all his losses apparently. George didn't step it up against Badou Jack because Fitzpatrick was telling him he was ahead and that he thought ''this would be the one night I'd get the correct instructions.''

Used to be a fan of the guy, but the more you see of and hear from him, the more he seems to be an arrogant guy bordering on deluded, who still isn't taking responsibility for any of his own physical and mental shortcomings.

Never a fan of him, stamina and chin issues. Bores me to death in interviews.

He's always been overrated, got a gift vs DeGale. Froch lack of motivation in the first fight made him look better than he actually is. There were idiots on here talking like he was the next Sugar Ray Robinson, people actually felt he could be Ward SMH! lol.

Would like the Sauerlands to give him a shot at Abraham and see how he measures up

Not bothered about Degale II, would prefer a Callum Smith bout

From what I've heard from him he's been brutally honest.

8 - 10 weeks out from the first Froch fight (or however many weeks it was) he cut ties with Booth, Paddy stepped in.. they had a good fight but they didn't get the outcome they wanted. Then there was the 2nd fight, Groves was boxing well but got hit with the money shot. Top level boxing, it happens.

From that point on, a lot of people were saying Groves needs to train elsewhere etc.... Groves openly says he knew Paddy wasn't getting the best out of him and it was almost like he was still in the picture so that they could prove people wrong.

When your boxing at the top level, everything in camp needs to be 100% - you don't stick with a trainer that can't get the best out of you just to prove people wrong.

Graceless or brutally honest? Anyway wasn't it paddy who came out a few days after the defeat before he even spoke to groves and said how all the attributes that the trainer helps with were spot on but the things that are down to the fighter let groves down? Not a very graceful thing to say after a world title loss before you have even spoken to the lad and confirmed the split

if you listen to the corner he's actually telling the truth

however, he would have known the fight was close so he shouldnt be relyng on trainers to tell him

his schtick is getting boring i agree. i used to like listening to him but he isn't delivering in his performances which makes his arrogance come off as a bit ridiculous and cringeworthy.

After the stuff Paddy was saying post split I can see why GG has decided to reveal his misgivings about their time together.

Regardless of your thoughts on Groves as a person or a fighter, Paddy clearly wasn't up to the job as proved by his demeanour following getting the sack. I can't see how anyone would want him to train them now.

Always been a big groves fan. Had massive potential coming through. Rated him a better fighter than degale. Obviously still a good fighter. But groves,s problems came from himself. Classic case of thinking he knows better than everyone and when its not worked out he blames everyone else. Think the move will do him good and i rated fitzpatrick as a coach. Just think groves picked him for all the wrong reasons...so he could do what he wanted as opposed to someone telling him what to do. I m not sure how the mcguigan move will work out for him bearing in mind he already has haye and frampton. But would like to see him going back to his old way of fighting he was becoming way too predictible. Still beleive as much as froch won that second fight george also threw it away if that makes any sense with his arrogance. Thought he just had to turn up to win and to be fair to carl he went away and prepared properly for it.

    1. The two Smith brothers wouldn't fight each other.
    2. Why would Groves fight Paul again?

Absolutely. The pre-fight speech to a rattled Froch about ''meeting you in the centre of the ring'' was great. The Rubix cube was genuinely funny. The problem now is that he's still acting like some intellectual with a master plan with 3 losses in his last 5. He sounds like Amir Khan with the excuses, apart from the fact Khan actually holds wins at world level.
