Yeah but he's a household name in Britain, which means more people know who he's is than Ward. The number of people who watched Groves v Rebrasse on Sky, despite having a much lower population, was probably higher than the amount of people that have watched any of Ward's fights in the US with his terrible viewing figures.
Obvously a shot at Froch. Nothing Groves says about boxing doesnt have something to do with Froch. He's clearly telling Froch that HE IS NOT KING. However, his subconscious obsession with Froch is his downfall, b/c of the two, Groves would have a far better chance of beating Ward.:-(
04-06-2013, 02:20 PM Date and time of the initial thread. A year and a half ago. Since then Ward has fought once, Groves has split with Booth and lost twice to Froch. This thread is obsolete and didn't need resurrecting.
He said this a year and a half ago when he was unbeaten. He was saying it out of respect for Ward, admitting he was not ready. A fairly level head in my opinion, as we have seen that he boxes too immaturely and is not yet ready. Regardless of Ward's inactivity, this is. Joshua, for another British example, would not jump in with Wlad right now. It's all about timing, and Groves perhaps went for Froch too young - I think more wrong tactics in the initial fight...either way, I hope people get the point. No shame in admitting you are young and growing, and not yet ready. Again though, this is a very old quote and a lot has changed since. Not really relevant as Groves is working himself back up the rankings and Ward is entirely inactive.
Groves is well-known in the UK for getting his jaw shattered all over the ring twice in a row. That as far as his 'household' name goes.
