It's not nonsense it's true! we are very negative towards winners especially our own British fighters! What Froch has achieved in boxing is amazing, especially as he isnt the most skilled boxer. I very much doubt he has lost many fans but Groves will have gained alot. Who doesnt get slated? Calzaghe, Eubank, Cleverly, Gavin, Fury, Haye infact there no point naming them, they all do! lol It's crazy!
That is a very strange list. The initial claim was that British people don't like winners. What have Gavin and Fury got to do with winners? The thing about British people is, if someone is a winner but is a complete c**t, they'll take **** for being a c**t. Eubank and Haye fall into that category. Naseem Hamed loved to claim that he was unpopular because people hate winners - no, but they do hate ****y, arrogant t0ssers. Calzaghe has taken stick for apparently dodging opponents and only fighting in the US against has-beens. They are valid criticisms. Wouldn't say he was an unpopular champion though - quite the opposite. Just because somebody wins a world title doesn't mean that they are no longer open to valid critique, ffs. And let's not make out it's a British thing - it's a human thing. It's the reason that Mayweather, despite being massively popular as a boxer will never be popular as a person. Whenever Britain has had a winning fighter who also seems like a good bloke they HAVE been popular. Bruno, McGuigan, Hatton. Froch is a complete joke as a man. Constantly demanding respect, but never willing to give any out. Let's leave aside the fact he said he wanted to kill Kessler, the way he has spoken and behaved since Saturday shows how lacking in class he is. That Boxing News interview is a disgrace. His comments on whether Groves would get a rematch sum him up Absolute bellend.
It's a strange list cos I stopped typing if you read properly and I didnt think you would start giving reasons for each one. lol And everyone is open to critique (correct) In the main we tend to focus on the faults / negatives and pick them apart instead of focusing on the postitives. Bruno, McGuigan, Hatton, Lewis they all get slated it's more fun isnt it! :-(
The point is Froch isn't unpopular because he's a winner, he's become unpopular because he is a complete t0sser. If he was unpopular for winning he'd have been booed out of all his other wins too.
I saw an interview where he said "I finished him in emphatic fashion against the ropes" I thought... eh?
