Is Francisco Sierra, on the Guerro vs Aydin undercard. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2012/07...undercard-on-july-28th-in-san-jose-california http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=332744&cat=boxer
British super middleweight champion George Groves (14-0, 11 KOs) will finally be returning to the ring on July 28th in a stay busy fight against 2nd tier player Francisco Sierra (25-5-1, 22 KOs) on the undercard of the Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin bout at the HP Pavilion, in San Jose, California. For the 24-year-old Groves, #3 WBO, #5 WBC, #9 IBF, #11 WBA, it will be the first time that hes fought in the United States. The Guerrero-Aydin fight will be televised on Showtime in the U.S, but its unclear if the Groves fight will be shown to American audiences. Its doubtful because hes an unknown in the U.S and there might not be much upside to showing his fight against Sierra especially given that its a mismatch due to Sierra having lost two out of his last three fights. Sierra, 24, has been in with several good fighters Edison Miranda, Thomas Oothuizen and Jesus Gonzales. The problem is hes lost all three of those fights with two of the losses coming by a knockout. If those guys were able to dominate Sierra its highly likely that Groves will do the same. Sierra does have a stoppage win over super middleweight contender Don George in 2010. Its highly doubtful that Sierra could repeat that stoppage if he fought George today because hes really improved. Groves was supposed to have challenged for a world title against WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz. However, a nose injury suffered while training wiped out that fight. Groves still remains ranked high in the super middleweight division and as long as he gets through the Sierra bout in flying colors he should be knocking on the door to face the winner of the August 25th fight between Arthur Abraham and Stieglitz. It would be great if Groves fight with Sierra makes it on television in the U.S because Groves could be opening up a new market for himself if he can have his fights televised in the U.S.
Please don't get me wrong Billy , i too am ginger and ugly , well ugly ish , and yes the lad can ****ing fight :deal
For a tune up it's a pretty dangerous one. Remember Sierra was a late replacement against an unbeaten yank on FNF and he put a beating on him. Isn't afraid of fighting a bit dirty and had some decent pop on his punches. Haven't seen him since then but if he's improved further than Groves could be in for a tough night considering his layoff. He'll need to be careful and not worry about impressing really. Concentrate on staying out of trouble and stay on the outside. Fair play to him for this, could have easily just fought a complete no-hoper like last time in Vegas and he still had spots of trouble then.
George Groves has no game. He has changed allot to. I followed him early on in his career & he seemed like a stand up bloke. Turning into a bit of a bellend these days
