Dear me atsch I know what you said , thats why i spun that little sparring dit , a 10 & 0 rookie climbs in to spar a two time current defending world champion (Froch , for Froch vs Kessler preparation) to mimic a fight , i.e. fight sparring and he has " no game " , please ................................ :hi:
He pulled out of Anderson fight twice before that though, the Steiglitz situation is understandable, but the two injury situations I smell something fishy (no fish eyes pun:yep)
No he is a very good fighter and I think he will go far, I was saying just because you have sparred guys doesn't make you a good fighter
Lets be real , if Groves is holding his own in sparring with Dirrell and Froch (and the rumours were he actually went at it hard with Froch) then your at least on your way to being a good fighter , are you not ??? The kid is talented , any dam fool who knows boxing just a little bit can see Groves has genuine ability
I said this as soon as there fight finished Anybody who didn't believe De Gale and Groves were serious talents were silenced after there fight , that was a domestic fight which played out at world class level The boys can fight
Sounds like it Kevin the way Smith spoke in commentary about the British title it seemed like he's been told the plan. Poor form this really is, Hope Kenny gets his chance whether it's Groves or Smith.
In the build up to Groves DeGale I was one of the very few tipping George. His camp were rooted in reality, there was no cheerleading, no back patting, they were open & honest about his flaws and how he needed to rectify them. Everything about it was spot on. George has talent, he's been well schooled & he's had tough sparring.... He just gotta keep his feet on the ground. Recently, they've been anything but. It's dangerous if you start believing your own hype
I'm not sure its done his career development much harm but I think having only one fight over here in (what will probably end up being) at least 18 months since nearly 20k were cheering him to win against DeGale has hurt his attempt to capitalise and build on popularity.
