Back when the fight was made, Edwin Rodriguez and Thomas Oosthuizen were ahead of Groves and they both declined the fight. I'm not exactly sure where all 3 were ranked.

As of Jan 14th, the IBF has
    1.not rated
    2.not rated
    3.Brandon Gonzales
    4.Maxim Vlasov
    5.James DeGale
    6.George Groves

Looks like it's time some of these guys start fighting each other.

Come on, Grover, take the 15%. You can get bigger paydays after you beat Froch.

Yes, he should be glad the IBF is forcing Froch to fight a rematch.

Groves is in no position to demand anything. He should get in the ring for what he's offered or shut up.

Just check the IBF'S Website, you can load up historical rankings. Groves was 6th yet somehow was named mandatory despite not being number 1. The IBF never seem to have a number 1 ranked fighter, probably because nobody has been willing to bribe them for the official number 1 position.

Froch will make similar money fighting Chavez jr and will have an easier time of it_ Groves now has his chance to take the rematch without giving away options on future fights or alternatively Ward seems interested In afight with him as well - maybe they should both just look elsewhere.

15% will be more than double what he had earned before so to say it's disgusting is a little over the top. If Groves could make a 7 figure payday against anyone else then it would be seen as a low ball offer but the fact is Froch is the draw and the champion.

Also when you consider Froch's most lucrative fight was the rematch against Kessler which had a combined purse estimated between £4-5 million and Groves was offered at least £1 million already, this would be more than 15%, more like 20-25%. So Groves has already very likely been offered more than 15% but rejected it because he is out pricing himself in this fight.

Groves is in a difficult situation, he isn't the champion, he didn't win the previous fight, he isn't the bigger draw and he is being offered at least double what he has earned before. Groves simply isn't in a great position to expect much more than he has already been offered. Froch clearly doesn't want the fight and to push it further will just see the fight go to purse bids which will mean he will only get 15% anyway which maybe less than what he has been offered already, though of course without any options.

Please. Any objective person should be able to admit that 15/85 is a ludicrous split. I could see 25/75, perhaps. I still say Groves should call Froch's play and take the 15 and fight him again.

    I actually agree with this.
Groves was superb in the beginning, then he tired badly and got sloppy, then although the stoppage was VERY premature, and the better fighter on the night lost, it was his own undoing, he was going to get stopped anyway.
If he rights his wrongs, and possibly doesn't burn so much nervous energy pre-fight, he'll beat Froch.
He may have lost the fight, but he won it mentally. Froch doesn't want another Groves fight, he knows he'll very likely get beaten, and couldn't handle a loss to Groves.
Groves needs to STFU take 15%, beat Froch and EARN the right to the bigger purses as champion.

15% is chump change especially after his performance.

Froch wont make anywhere near the money fighting Chavez than he would fighting Groves.
Froch stands to make £5 million at least fighting Groves if they come to an agreement before purse bids. And if it goes to purse bids Froch could potentially make even more with his 85% split of the purse, but Hearn has said if Groves doesn't accept his deal before purse bids then they will look at other options (Chavez) because Hearn doesn't want to risk losing the purse bid to a rival promoter.
Groves is entitled to wait to purse bids, but Hearn only wants the fight if it's on his terms.

If Groves is the most money Froch can make, he should take the fight. If he beats Groves this time convincingly it will clear up all the controversy of their first encounter. Although I believe the early stoppage saved Groves from an inevitable stoppage or ko from Froch, his performance throughout granted him a rematch. Despite all the slagging and arguments being made by both fighters and their fans, people forget how exciting an encounter their match was. If the 2nd fight takes place and is another classic, people will talk about this rivalry for years to come which will go down in British boxing history.

Questions can be asked about the IBF and their policies involving mandatories etc but lets all just enjoy the fact there are two quality British fighters facing one another at world level which does not come around very often.
