I said it would add some extra value to the ppv which it would do(especaily for the people who are not Bonation subscribers)but still nothing to get to excited about. This will still be better value for money the most ppvs i have brought over the years but I really like the Froch-Kessler fight which I know you`re not that excited about

Talking about SBO cards in recent years, the best hands down has to be:

    Maidana vs Khan
    Ortiz vs Peterson
    Degale vs Smith
    Macklin vs Varon
    Bellew vs McKenzie
    Cleverly vs Mohammedi
    Brook vs Kotey

What a card!.....And it more than lived up to it!!

Being better by comparison isn't the same as being PPV-worthy.

But there's no choice, fight or no fight.

I never suggested you did. But pointing out that it's better than a bad card is pretty much damning with faint praise.

Not surprised by this if there wanting Groves to fight Stieglitz in Sept/Oct.

Decent ranking with the WBC, just outside the top 10 and has been in with big names e.g. Sturm and Stevenson.

He fought Sturm 6 years ago and had his best fight against him. Although it was not a close fight against Sturm.
This guy cant be seen as a serious contender anymore.
Guys like Stieglitz fight on a total different level and I dont know if guys like Alcoba help Groves to step up in level. He clearly needs to be World Champion.

That makes sense.Im glad its not Brian Magee,a good un in his day but become a bit of a stepping stone lately for the top guys.Looking at this fellows record, going the distance with Sturm not bad, some don't get that far.Two round loss to Stevenson, which doesn't make him a bad boxer.Quite a few KO wins against unknowns in South America.Maybe got some power. But he's 33 years old.Think Id rather have Anderson too.
If Groves was fighting every 2 months I could understand this stuff, building him up,then steadily increasing his opposition. The poster who mentioned Sierra was right,I think.Things seem to be going backwards. As Johnson was well past his best,Georges best opponent was James Degale,by a long way.

The only reasoning I can see behind this though is that Groves is 1. trying to build a bit of a following by blowing people out of the water, which he has done recently and is easy on the eye & 2. With regards to progression, fights like this won't likely hinder his chances of a Stieglitz fight... perhaps they see that quality sparring e.g. Andy Lee pretty much whenever they like and whoever else Booth decides to bring in from one week to another is the way forward? Who knows.

Groves and Degale both haven't pushed on like we thought they might.

Still like Degale though and really want to see him step up.

Haha Eddie Hearn: 'I owe it to the hardcore fans to put on a great undercard.'

    Good one.

Hearn seems a sharp guy, he must have seen this backlash coming.
