He needs to fight a few more times with a new trainer. Floyd mayweather sr roger mayweather Virgil hunter. naazim richardson He needs to work on his movement and defense and fighting more relaxed. He fights well the first 7 rounds vs froch but he gets tired. if he learned how to fight on the inside and really learn how to hold he could be a very good fighter
He needs to find a more relaxed stance, and rely more on skills rather than the jittery movement he does.
Those are all good trainers, but I dont think they would mesh with Groves natural inclinations or personality very well. At the top level, with trainers who have handled multiple title level fighters I dont really tend to think one trainer is necessarily "better" than others. Rather, its a matter of fitting the fighter with the right trainer. Trying to turn Groves into a Mayweather, BHop or Ward I think is the wrong path. Its not his character.
I would not be surprised at all if Groves' problem is he is not using PEDs vs opponents who are using PEDs. I see patterns of boxers who are technically superior losing to opponents as the fights progress into the mid to late rounds. The opponents aren't anything special in terms of boxing ability but they somehow manage to maintain a higher percentage of their initial work capacity and simply win because of that. I saw that again and again throughout Chavez Jr's career. Of course, they eventually meet a technically superior opponent who is also on PEDs themselves and the true limitations of their skills are exposed or they fight a contest without using their PEDs against a no-hope opponent who embarrasses them. Then they use their PEDs for the rematch and things "look right". Groves: find the right "strength and conditioning coach" who can manage your PED usage so you can compete against opponents who are using them.
Should never jave left Adam Booth, I definitely believe had Booth been is his corner he would have won lastnight no problem, even though I had him ahead at the time of the stoppage. I think he'd be suited to a trainer like Naazim Richardson or maybe Ronnie Shields.
breadman edwars, dissected groves fault on his webpage recently . He, looks like a decent fit, but its up to george to cure his flaws!!
If they're coming from the mouth of someone who actually saw the fight then these are the words of someone who has never been punched in his life.
