Watching the "grudge match" the other night I couldn't help thinking that George Groves is very similar to ex World Champ Alan Minter. Like Minter, Groves may not be the biggest puncher, or be the best technically, however, he has enormous heart and this can take him further than James DeGale. Minter had 3 epic domestic battles with Kevin Finnegan (Incidentally both fighters had immense respect for each other.... and conducted themselves with dignity and humility in victory and defeat, something else that Groves manages and DeGale miserably fails at). Anyway my point is this, Minter won a World title, Okay he was given a lesson by Marvin Hagler, but many were.... but he beat Vito Antifuermo in the States through making the best of what he had. Groves has similar capabilities and desire and, I believe, he is capable, under the care of his team, of winning a European title and challenging for a World title in 2/3 years in a Division that lacks any "real quality".
I'd like to see Groves in with someone more experienced now such as Gevor, Brinkley etc. Hopefully he's on Haye's card against a semi-decent opponent and then steps up in the winter.
There'll always be racism, no matter how much people try and deny it. It's just a fact of life. One of my mates is racist, votes BNP and reads the Daily Mail..... he's not a bad person, just misguided in some of his beliefs. Edit - Fearon can **** right off with that ****. He's as racist as anybody I've come across It's annoying why some people always pull the race card if they are disliked. I don't dislike DeGale at all, but sometimes I just cringe at some of the **** he says....
Spencer's a bit of a mong on FB for the most part. He also suggested DeGale gives his purse away to charity :huh A dude's gotta eat ffs!
I agree. George has a huge heart, along with determination to succeed. He gives 100% in all of his fights, and this is why I think he'll be more successful than Degale.
Yeah just seen that. He likes being controversial but he goes to far and ain't doing himself any favor's in long run. He attention *****'s more then anyone else i know on fb.
how disgraceful you compare Groves to a racist in alan minter , that is disgraceful to mention groves ion the same breath as alan minter ... and before you defend minter here is a n article which mentions his comments http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1123817/index.htm
168 stacked ? Yeah with a load of fighters 30 years old and upwards Kessler, Froch, Abraham, Bika, Stieglitz, Magee.... the list is endless.... Like I said in 2/3 years time when Groves is 25 most of these will be in decline. Okay so Bute (could be exceptional), Ward and Dirrell may be a little younger but I don't believe any of them are outstanding.... :tong Of course others will come through but Groves can look ahead with optimism
