Nice finish, Boxed well at times but defensively he took to many punches against a guy who i wasn't impressed with when he fought Gonzalez last year on ESPN. Kid had a decent record but stylistically was made for Groves pin point bombs but Groves got the job done in fine fashion and made a few fans over there in process. He's shown he can box many styles, He's got a lovely array of punches and ability to transition between punches extremely quickly and well. The only issue for me is his defence and his footwork which is rather telegraphed. See he has such a wide stance and this trades one thing off against another. He gets fantastic leverage into his punches but at the same time cuts off the ability to move as well and as quickly and with him having his hands down and a long neck and trading he's always going to walk a thin line IMO i just always get the impression he's one punch away from seeing canvas. Exciting to watch when in that form and frame of mind though..
Adam Booth ‏@boxingbooth It's a real shame that British boxing fans watch their TV fights with such useless commentary Who do you think Booth is talking about? The US commentators or Rawling and Duke?
I have to admit, although I thought DeGale just beat Groves, Groves is going in a much better direction. DeGale needs to be a bit more active and imo switch trainers, although to be fair Groves hasn't been any more active and DeGale did well in his last two.
Did Rawling or Duke say anything particularly bad in that fight? Or is he just saying they're **** in general?
Steve Farhood and the other guy were much more optimistic about Groves than Rawling and Duke, sometimes when Groves landed a good punch they were going on about how Groves got caught with a good shot :huh
Definitely. Groves would get caught once to land three good shots and all they could see was the shot he took. I watched both broadcasts and prefer the American one, always do.
