Also Ward didn't look the man he used to be before the injury to me.

If Groves could get him before Ward has a warm up AND gets random drug testing for the SOG the fight could be very interesting.

Styles make fights.

Froch made Groves look far better than he actually is due to his lack of movement and his vulnerability when he goes headhunting and gets reckless.

Ward would do a number on Groves.

Groves has nothing except youth and reasonable speed and punching power on his side.

Ward would exploit Groves lack of defense, his lack of ring I.Q, and his questionable stamina.

I'd be surprised if Ward didn't stop Groves within the distance, either by TKO or Groves corner saving him from further punishment.

 

As been mentioned, I think Groves would have the ability to cause problems for Ward for say 6 or so rounds, but it would be Ward's ability to judge/control range and fight on the inside that would be they key and deciding factor.

It's no secret than Groves defence can unravel when he gets caught with a few shots on the spin and there's no better fighter on the inside than Andre Ward.

 

The Sauerlands wouldn't risk the fight , it would end Groves career at the top level, if Dirrell or Degale don't.

Its not even on the cards anyway.

 

Who is this Ward guy you speak of, when did he last enter a ring?? I thought he was a commentator these days??!! ;-)

The confident undefeated version of Groves, I would favour against Ward, as I would've undefeated Bute, but often after a defeat, many fighters dont seem the same and I wonder if that is the case for Groves?
I notice that Ward hasnt fought a top undefeated fighter or a top prime fighter. All of his best wins have come against fighters who have been exposed
