Anyone got any idea what his next move is going to be? He was calling for Paul Smith after his last fight, but more recently I heard he was going to get Carl Dilks. He's a really good prospect Groves and I think he could go all the way.
Groves is the real deal. He's a tremendous prospect and I agree that he'll go all the way. He would dismantle James DeGale.
He is fighting on the undercard of Marquez vs Diaz 2 then will defend his Commonwealth agaisnt next weeks prizeifighter winner. after that he will probs be mandatory for the British title.
Hopefully Groves and DeGale remain unbeaten, we could have a British super fight on our hands with those two. There's already bad blood between them.
I agree he's the best British prospect out there at the minute. Dilks was given a fight on the undercard of Haye vs Ruiz (which also contained Groves vs Adamu) with a view to making the fight between the two of them. However Dilks was awful and was arguably losing (I was there) before pulling out a one punch KO. I'd be surprised if that was their next move, bearing in mind Dilks struggled with Adamu and Groves made Adamu look like a tomato can. The winner of the next Prizefighter doesn't look all that great either, as Quigley and Dodson have both pulled out. Paul Smith won't want to risk his potential WBO title fight for a one sided KO loss at the hands of Groves.... As Rob said, he's on the undercard of Marquez vs Diaz II, they could look at getting a tough German over rather than beating up a domestic can as a title defence. Both Brian Magee (the Euro 168 champ) and Stephen Smith (Paul Smith's brother) post on the Brit forum and for some reason believe that Groves is ducking Dilks and that Smith would chin him. Delusional to say the least
Groves is taking the risks that Haye took earlier in his career, in fact he is taking the same route. The guy, as another poster said is the real deal. Real classy boxer, who takes his time early in fights to assess what he's up against then he goes to work with tremendous body and head combinations. The only debate could be that his chin is not concrete, he was recently dropped in sparring against Froch, which Groves described as a flash kncokdown.
I just saw Groves on Youtube against Hijard. He trys to hard to be a wannabe Roy Jones, he lookes alright but hes gonna get himself ktfod trying to do that against stiffer competition. I suppose he might get better. Besides Englands only aloud a real good white boy like every 20 years, so you guys got to wait another 10.
Degale vs Groves would be good now, but in the future once both are recognised would be better. Degale would beat him though
