May twelfth at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia. The vacant IBF and the IBO (first defense of Kambosos) world lightweight titles will be at stake.

Kambosos is currently ranked at #2 and Lomachenko at #3 by the IBF, with the #1 spot unoccupied making this a de facto number one versus number two match-up. Each has recently lost unanimous decisions to Devin Haney for the unified 135lb championships - Kambosos twice in 2022, and Lomachenko the following year.

I think Loma will get a late stoppage here.

I am pulling for my man Kambosos here if history tells us anything it's that Australia is a place where legends like Loma get upset by the Aussie underdog.

Loma 8 rounds to four. It'll be a little tougher than most people think.

Feels about right. People calling Kambosos a bum would do well to go back and have a look at the Lopez fight. Kambosos ain't no bum and will have moments in this fight.

Kambosos is half a decade younger and has a 2" height and 2½″ reach advantage on Lomachenko.

Just about every other advantage you can think of falls on the side of the Ukrainian southpaw:
    • ring IQ
    • amateur pedigree, obviously; to call this a mere advantage is arch understatement
    • speed
    • power (even though Lomachenko isn't a puncher, nor a natural LW as GKJ is; he still probably hits harder h2h)

It's going to be a big year for Australian boxing. In the heavier weight divisions, there is speculation that the Lineal Cruiserweight champ has already dethroned the Lineal Heavyweight champ. That's unofficially of course, b/c an essential characteristic of claiming the Lineal H/W Championship is asserting the claim & Opetaia has emphatically refused to do so. Later in the year we will see a battle of boxing royalty - or should that be a battle royale? King Timmy will face the P4P King, Budrick Crawford. That one will deal a devastating blow to the psyche of Big Doodle Boxing. As if having the premium boxing networks over there turn their backs on the sport & seeing the best of their heavyweights humbled in Saudi Arabia isn't enough, losing the P4P crown to King Timmy will send shockwaves through the sport. The Doodle Dandy boxing fans are becoming so frustrated, they are trying to create a buzz for Budrick versus Teo or Boots. Sad to see, really. Everyone knows those fights aren't happening & nor should they. Finally, the world will see George of the Jungle versus Old Man Loma. Loma is venturing to the ends of the earth, Perth Western Australia, to have his boxing career ended.

Can you argue that Lomachenko won more rounds against Haney in one try (totaling twelve rounds) than Kambosos did in two (24 rounds) ...?

    Yes. Yes, you can. :sisi1

Interesting factoid on that note: the last time Haney actually stopped an opponent, there was no such thing as Covid-19. :scared1
