116-112 Liddard. Some fight that though – 11th round of the year so far.

If Tyler could punch he'd have given anyone a fight. As it is, he was European champion and can be proud of that.

I still rate the old-school route as the best way to learn in boxing: Area, English, British, Commonwealth, then European, with Europe being the bridge to world level. Most never make it that far, so being European champ is a proper achievement and Tyler can be proud of it.

All these “intercontinental” belts and bogus interim titles are basically ploys to bypass the levels and act as marketing/bargaining tools, plus another way for sanctioning bodies to rinse fighters. Tyler proved his worth tonight too. After 2–3 rounds Liddard looked a level above and Denny looked vulnerable, but by round 11 you were thinking either man could go if the other landed a sustained attack. Plenty left for Tyler, and there are still fights for him domestically if Liddard goes on to European level.

Has Conor Benn even won an Area title?

Missed this one, doesn't sound like it was the best night at the office for the Matchroom mob.

Just watched the card this morning and it was a very good night of boxing.

Really enjoyed the main event and the Sains fight.

Liddard going down the West Ham football angle when he’s from Billericay, over 30 miles away.

Thing is, mate, Billericay probably has more people with traditional East End family roots than a lot of the actual East End does now, especially around West Ham. The East End’s changed beyond recognition over the last 20–30 years – far more multicultural, far more gentrified, and a lot artsier the closer you get to the City.

West Ham have so many easex based fans these days. I live round here and most support West Ham. They have a club shop in Basildon. Many moved out this way over the years

A really good and entertaining Matchroom Card.

Going forward, Matchroom should focus more on arranging some attractive UK cards.

Even though Zuffa / H.E. will sign contracts with all the big names in the coming months, there is still the possibility of arranging some watchable fights at a lower level. Yesterday's Matchroom UK card is an excellent example.

The majority of the fan base in in Essex now though

Most people in the actual area itself have no connection to the club and choose whoever is winning currently

So many genuinely gifted fighters out there that fight in a state of hesitancy and tactical muddle. Imagine any of them had Denny's conviction of purpose and clarity of style. He is exactly as good as it is biologically possible for him to be - have to admire talent maxing like that.
