the question should be what odds would you take to bet that George Monk Foreman the 83rd will never be champ I would say 1/15 sounds about right.
I doubt he will be world champ. He has the advantage of genetics, he has the advantage of having George senior's experience to guide him. But there is something extra that makes a champ. Something that kinda... gay as it sounds... forges them into what they are. There isn't a sure fire recipe. It's unique to each person. And it's rare. So I doubt he will become a champ.
I don't recall many ATG's sons doing poor. None are complete bums, I don't think. Just none have managed to follow their fathers footsteps. But the fighters genetics are the only thing which matters. They have the potential, as their fathers are great athletes. If their mother is the same, then it's possible.
Monk seems like a real nice guy, he seems to actually want it, so good for him. I hope he does well, and it honestly wouldn't surprise me at all if he does so. Yes, he is starting late. But look at the positives. *He has the genetics *He's a very good sized heavyweight at 6'5", 245 *He has all the money he could possibly need for the best equipment, trainers, etc... whatever he needs, it's at his disposal. *Most importantly, he seems to have the right attitude.
I think he definitely has the drive since it seems that he really does love boxing (i.e. he isn't doing it out of need, college graduate, successfully managing the family business so he certainly doesn't need to do it) so looks like his heart is in the right place.
He must be doing out of love, because Rice business is a pretty prestigious program to graduate from. Even if he didn't have access to the Foreman fortune, he'd be able to make a damn good living for himself with that. I don't know how far he will or won't go, but there's no such thing as too much interest in HW boxing, and having him involved is going to drum up some interest.

Agreed, but if he possesses even minimal skills and talent, his name could take him a long way en route to making lots of money.
He will makes lots of money fighting nobodies. Time will tell us, but I doubt if he really goes to the #1, but you never knowl
Agreed. As a fan of Foreman, part of me almost hopes he winds up becoming an elite heavyweight, but of course, I have my doubts and expect he's just trying to make a buck from the name. Who can blame him?
