Why should he tarnish his legacy with a loss to khabib or Ben askren?

Ask that to the UFC. They were the ones who apparently backed off of the fight. Their reasoning was : what if St-Pierre wins and take away the unbeatable aura of Khabib. Saint-Pierre would have taken down Khabib with one arm in wrestling.

A wise man knows his limitations.
Too many fighters come back for one too many matches.

Look what happened to Cain, Fedor etc. Georges legacy as an ATG is well-anchored

I've never been a huge fan of GSP or his style of fighting but he is easily a top 5 ATG,I think in his prime it would be a hell of a fight against Khabib and I think he could beat him but would probably favour Khabib if they fought now especially if GSP moved down to lightweight.
Despite Askren **** talk trying to get a fight with him I doubt there would be a ton of interest in seeing them fight and Askren wouldn't pose much of a threat to even this old version of GSP who is better in pretty much every aspect

GSP is a legend. seemed like he was done came back and won a title good way to go out. He captured the heart of combat sports in Quebec and is friends with basically every boxer in Quebec.

but, he's a very very weird person. one of the oddest fighters ever

He'd unretire in a split second if the leprechaun called him out

I rank Fedor above him, but GSP has the best resume in the sport.

Cleared out all generations in his division in such a dominant fashion, then went up and tapped the champ.

I have him as No.2 GOAT, But I’d see why people would say he’s the No.1

He is as well rounded as you will find in a mixed martial artist.

I don't really care to be honest. Yes GSP is one of the top few greats of all time BUT after the Serra fight he was safety first and so so boring to watch his fights. They were terrible to watch. Very similar to how Wlad Klitschko turned safety first after his early ko loses to Sanders, Brewster etc etc. Safety first safety first and happy to go to decision and seemingly not try to stop your opponent who isn't on your level.

The fight to make was at 170 against Woodley. GSP doesn't seem to want any of that.
Imo against Khabib at 170 GSP wins, at 155 Khabib wins imo.
Khabib has work to do at 155 to prove his possible greatness and plenty of contenders there to beat.
