While he may have had a bigger punch, it wasn't by several leagues, and as a fighter, he was nowhere near as good.

I highly doubt that someone with the mindset of McClellan was nervous. What's more likely is that that was his excuse for being hurt. In reality, you don't need an excuse for being hurt by Julian Jackson, it's Julian Jackson. What doesn't bode well, is how often a smaller guy like Jackson could land on him, and how long it took McClellan to take him out (in a war, no less).
You mean when Jackson was even older?
Duane Thomas and Terry Norris could do that Mugabi. Nothing to write home about IMO.
Sibson, Bennie, Hart, Hamsho and Roldan are big Punchers by middleweight standards. Especially Hart, arguably the same level puncher as McClellan IMO.

Jackson delivered his single shots with GREAT speed.

And yeah man, 12 months. Julian turned into a corpse in that year, after being considered one of the p4p best a year before (and one BS stoppage loss in 50 fights - to one of the true greats; whom incidently Julian had on ***** street in the first round).

    Hmmmmm.

They are reasonable punchers. Nothing like a McClellan when you see him leave guys convulsing on the floor with the first right landed. And Marvin wasn't hit much by them.

I'm sure a brutal war with a massive puncher three weight classes above him on the night played absolutely no part in Jackson's decline, especially given that he was no spring chicken in the first fight.

Terry Norris was a p4p superstar.

Nothing to write home about, man. Boxing is easy, that's why we all do it.

Came back and regained the title still. Looking sharp.

Hamsho doesn't belong in that group George.

And G was a KRONK fighter remember, he'd be trained to set up his rights. Sibson for instance wasn't greatly schooled, easy to read with the left hooks

If you're human and you're fighting Julian Jackson and you've never been in with him, you're nervous. Simple as that.

Who would you put forward as McClellans five highest quality KO victims?

God knows. But to leave humans like he did is not normal.

And to land your best punch on Sanderline Williams in the second round is not normal, because nobody else could in 10 or 12.

G's potential was hideous. He looked a shoe-in for fighter of the 90s for so many

LOL I didn't even mean to write him. I just clicked the option where Hearns normally comes up after Hart. Own fault for posting at work I guess.

    But yeah I agree.

The three best boxing brains in the world at the time were Manny Steward, Mike Tyson and Bobby Czyz. All three felt McClellan was the best in the business and would prove himself as such.

Leaving Kronk, and later going to London (to face a long time champ and wild banger) after nearly a year out, were career suicide decisions.

'I never had a more talented fighter than Gerald McClellan. Gerald would've beaten Roy again, I really believe that. His power and timing was better, he was tall and physical and had a good chin, too.' - Steward

    They know more than us.
