McCllelan had dynamic punching power and Hagler a cast iron chin. Who would win this war? And it would be a war. You can have them fight at 160 or have Hagler move to 168 if you want.

Hagler by late-round stoppage - McClellan eats too many punches.

One thing people don’t realise is that Hagler was in the same day weigh in era, so they went into the ring at nearly the same weight they weighed in at, McClellan came into the ring in the 180s allegedly. (And btw, it makes a massive difference, it’s like fighting a Crusierweight from that era).

I would favor 1993-94 Gerald McCellan, who knocked out Julian Jackson twice, over Hagler.
But it is not a fair comparison, because they are not the same category.
And the difference is NOT ONE, but at least two categories.
And I don't like writing about Gerald McCellan because of the tragedy.

Exactly, if they were the same size I’d definitely favour Hagler, but the size difference is too much, Hagler could beat some mediocre guys that size, journeymen and the like who are predictable and he could hit and not get hit, but not McCellan, it’s the size combined and merged with the skill and speed that make it a near impossible task, it’s no Pacauiao Margarito where he gave him the target and came forward slow and predictable.

Well let's imagine a same day weigh in and G Man enters the ring at 160

In that case, ie. P4P I would favor Hagler.

McClellan is overrated he was outboxed twice by Ralph Ward, Dennis Milton. His only notable win was against a past it Julian Jackson. Anytime McClellan was extended into the 2nd half of a fight he lost all 3 times, and Hagler certainly has the skills and durability to extend McClellan into the 2nd half of a fight.

    Hagler by late TKO.

What do you say to the point raised that McClellan with day before weigh ins could come in at 180, while Hagler fought with same day weigh in and was in the ring at 160?

Both at 160, I give it to Hagler.

There are actually boxing fans who think a 160lbs Hagler would beat up a 180lbs version (1993-94) of his opponent?

There are actual boxing fans that think McClellan who only has one notable win in his entire career, and lost pretty much every fight when he was extended into 2nd half of the fight. Beats an ATG Middleweight in Hagler who has top 10 chin of all time and one of the best all round skill sets of all time with no glaring weaknesses ?

I would think any boxing fan who knows about McClellan and Hagler's history that Hagler is the obvious answer to this thread.

Why would Hagler be coming in at exactly 160 if they're fighting under day-before weigh-ins? Why wouldn't he rehydrate extra weight as well?
