Can Zale take McClellan shots and win on points here? I don't think so. I think the gman knocks him out late. Thoughts?
It goes just like this- if Zale can withstand the G mans attack for the first 4 rounds then Zale will grind him down latter. But thats a big IF for the first 4 rounds- wouldnt bet on this fight as both senarios- G man blitzing Zale or Zale grinding him down are easy to see.
Best example of a 50/50 fight. Both of these men are hell in a fire fight and hit hard whilst having a solid chin
You have to keep in mind that McClellan never fought at 160 in his career; he was generally at least 180. Rick Glaser says that he rehydrated to 198 for the second Jackson fight. Would Tony Zale beat a heavyweight?
Zale would be visibly outsized in this fight. Hostak is a good measuring stick of someone similar to McClellan in quite a few ways, although lighter on fight night I would confidently say. It's a heavy attack coming from McClellan though, but Zale showed he could stick it out in wars against big hitters and come back. Benn lasted (controversially with the ropes deal) but then again Benn was bigger than Zale and was really dragging on his last breath that whole fight, felt like pure instinct after getting as close to being stopped right away as possible. Too unknown for me ultimately. I'd unconfidently go with Zale if I needed to.
If the fight takes place in Zales timeline there's a day of fight weigh in. Would Gerald be too weak with only hours to recover from the weight loss? In this scenario I take Tony as Gerald gasses out after 5 or 6
more like Zale vs Conn, Conn with far more power. Zale would 'probably' be stopped, too big a difference, two different weights in reality.
McClellan's cv at 160 is basically 3 wins over 2 ex light middles Mugabi and Jackson ,and ,as has been said reinstate same day weigh ins ,he loses to Zale imo.
