That changes the fact that he fought before then as a light heavy how?

...So my assumption about this thread was correct. Nice way of making a point.

There is a world of diference betweenpicking a 190 pounder with a proven track record against superheavyweights over a superheavyweight, and picking a middleweight who never went beyond 168 lbs over an all time great 190 punder.

It is a little thing called prescidence.

Well he was never officially over 168, but by fight time he was probably close to 180.

It was not unknown for fighters to hit the ring somewhat heavier than at the weigh in in Dempseys day. they had less time to rehydrate but the same shenanigans whent on. LaMotta was often 180 on fight night for example.

Archie has the quality and quantity. and Yes Quantity does mean something, especially when you hold clean knockout wins over so many good fighters like moore did.

The statment that Dempsey was knocked down by light heavyweight Tunney is misleading, because when Tunney knocked Dempsey down Tunney was a heavyweight, or as much of a heavyweight as Dempsey

By the time Tunney fought Dempsey he was a good size cruiserweight.

Yes he fought as a light heavyweight previously but then Gerry Cooney fought as a middleweight and we dont call him a former middleweight.

BIG DEE HERE= It would last long enough for Dempsey to break McClellan in half. You think that he would take Dempsey`s measure, you gotta be kidding
a supermiddleweight destroyed him fore the reast of his life and yoyu think he`s going to take punches from one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history. DON`T MAKE ME F--KIN LAUGH as Dempsey still has more 1st rd KOs than any fighter in boxing history in any division.
