If the G-Man fought in today's MW era how do you think he would have done against the likes of Golovkin, Quillin, Martinez, Chavez Jr., etc.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kNv9YHeEwo I personally think G-Man was second to Tyson in terms of overall intimidation and aggressiveness in the ring. Always looked for the KO and wasn't afraid to take your best shots. He was a guy that you did NOT want to **** with.
0.26 Ugghh makes me sick to think what that guy felt when the punch landed. Amazingly sharp and accurate puncher with massive ko-power.
If we're going by today's versions, the only one I'd favor over McClellan is Golovkin, who I feel McClellan matches up against terribly from a style standpoint. The other middleweights are too hittable and don't have enough tools in the toolbox to take advantage of McClellan's defensive lapses, over aggression, and front running style. G-man was flawed in some ways, but he was damn good at what he did right. I think he got hit too much to have a long title reign, but in a one-off scenario, I'd only favor GGG against him. Prime Sergio vs McClellan would've been a wicked fun fight, too.
G man beats the lot Had 1 punch power to take out the lot there is not 1 fighter u named that would not get caught A fight I would have loved to see was ward vs gman
The one that has the chin to make it to the second half of the fight beats him. McC didn't carry his power into the later rounds and became pretty beatable when he had to go into deep waters. If you didn't had the chin, you're toast though.
Bingo. The chin and defensive integrity is crucial. That's why I like GGG over him- yes, he can punch, he can slug, but GGG's a much more disciplined boxer and has a great chin. None of the other middleweights have the tools to overcome McClellan in a one-fight scenario. People forget that McClellan never won a fight past 8 and has a losing record in fights that go 6 rounds or longer. It also looked like hee was also on his way to getting knocked out in Jackson I until the headbutt- Gerald won, but suffered career-altering damage in that fight by going to war with a huge puncher. He only knew the one speed. What Gerald was was a very dangerous frontrunner and extremely exciting. King knew it, and milked the hell out of it with his matchmaking. Note that every single one of G-man's top wins had been knocked out in the first half of fights before King brought them in.
Can GGG fans inject them self with some reality please, i honestly dont know would he beat him or not, but there is no fighter they dont say ohh GGG ko easyatsch GGG still did not beat anyone as pro so lets wait a bit...and this comes from GGG fan!
Get real. GGG has the chin of Chuvalo, the defense of Sweet Pea, the power of Julian Jackson and the stamina of Marciano. He can beat every boxer up to and including the heavyweight division. References [1] A few posts on ESB by GGG fans.
