I don't know if he would be blasted early. Froch hasn't faced a puncher like that, but I'm not going to assume that he'll be blasted out early because of that. Froch has so much fight in him, he wouldn't win though for me. McLellan was no ****ing joke in the ring.
To be honest i don't think i'd write Froch off against McClellan. No doubt he could get sparked, but just as easily he could get up off his arse and start wearing the G-man down later on. I mean Gerald only went past 8 once and it might sound **** and i say this respectfully, but we know what happened then. McClellan might have always struggled in distance fights with someone bringing it to him. Who knows? Admittedly G-Man's super sharp right hand is the perfect tool for Froch's low left.
Yeah I'd back Tiger, Robinson, Monzon, Hagler, Kalambay, McCallum at 160 off the top of my head (just some obvious examples) At 168-175 too many to mention. I would say G-Man would be the most physically dangerous man B-Hop had ever faced! But I go with Hopkins' toughness and skill to beat McLellan to a decision. I'd pick G-Man to steamroll Sergio Martinez :yep
Hopkins would beat him for me. I don't reckon Hopkins has the chin his record suggests though. His defense and ring generalship see to it that he is hardly ever hit cleanly at all. I don't see what's stopping him from just offsetting what McClellan has in store for him. What normally stops him from doing so is a lot of speed. McClellan's not slow or anything but nah.
If Dirrell and Taylor can get his attention, I just wonder how long he'll last as hittable as he is and how he'll struggle to respond. He'll get hit with massive shots consistently and his resolve will actually see him continue to get hit and smashed through his bravery. As I say, one of the most dangerous fights I can think of for Froch. He proved me wrong against Abraham but he won't have superior size to keep his man at bay here, and a far better fighter than Abraham. I thought Arthur would show up Frochs desire to fight and defensive fallacies. I was wrong. I can't see Froch being able to do anything here, if I were to agree with you Teeto my good man I would only be able to credit Frochy (my favourite active fighter bar none) with taking even more of a shellacking.
Yes, and unlike that fight he wouldn't have time to make theadjustment here. That's actually a better example than Abraham, I was just going by how he fared against the hardest single shot hitter he's faced. I think Froch is very sturdy, but I've seen him buzzed a few times now and it suggests he's not made of the unbreakable iron we've seen some fighters posses, he also doesn't have the ability to take the edge of shots that well. Taylor punched him in the throat at one point IIRC :-(
Nah I never said Froch would do **** to McClellan, I'm just not saying he would be blown away early, as in like round two or three and ****. It may happen, but I haven't seen the evidence yet for that. Fighters have buzzed him and **** but he's not looking like an early ko victim yet to me so I'm not going there personally. He would lose. But yeah with the kind of power that that guy posessed who knows? He was a monster.
I wasn't saying you did mayne, just trying to show you where I'm coming from with that prediction :good
