I highly doubt Steward ever said that. Considering all the great fighters Steward has trained, such a statement sounds ridiculous.

 

Ok I've found the quote off boxings.cene. In the non cited quote Steward said Mclellan was the most talented fighter he trained, which is entirely different than saying the best fighter he worked with. There is no date on this quote, so if it is factual (something I'm skeptical about) then it probably was from the mid 90's before Lewis really hit his stride and years before he ever worked with Klitschko.

 

So do I though I thought he would stop Benn.

If the stories about his extra-curricular exploits are true I can't find much sympathy for his current predicament.

evidence for - recently fought Dawson, a combo puncher, and the destructive Shumenov and upcoming KO4Clev. These were in his 40s, no less.

 

I think his opinion just changed over time as he worked with different fighters. If you asked Manny in 1993 who was the best fighter he worked with he would probably say Hearns or Holyfield, in 2000 Lewis and in 2010 Klitschko.
