If you're knocked out of the ring you've got 20secs to get back in.Thats is a FACT!

Point is Kessler style is too straight up and he would get KTFO.

    G-man's overration continues.

    Show me where he
    1) KO'd any fighter that hadn't already been stopped early
    or
    2) Beat a fighter as good as Kessler, period. Beating a one-eyed Julian Jackson means he's going to stop Kessler now?

When he didn't actually fight for the knockout, he was getting outboxed by nobodies. And yet, he's going to knock out Kessler early?

G-man was an exciting fighter and a good one, don't get me wrong- but he was also promoted ****ing brilliantly and so people generally rate him way too highly in H2H matchups like these.

    GMan is two classes above.

Prime Kessler struggled with Calzaghe in a loss and Mundine in a win.

GMAN KOs all three on the same night.

The ISSUE is athletic talent. Neither Kessler (or a Calzaghe for example) would be able to avoid getting hit and beat down.

Well, I agree that Kessler's lack of waist flexibility would be a big problem for him in this fight.

On the other hand, Kessler boxes brilliantly at his preferred space, and he manages getting into that preferred space very well. He outboxed a superior athlete in Calzaghe at his ideal range, and it wasn't until Calzaghe began to change the distance on him that his gameplan fell apart.

But McClellan wasn't a mover and was a pretty poor defender at the world class level, and Kessler would have lots of scoring opportunities.

Ultimately, though, I think he cracks Kessler's chin, which personally I believe is suspect. Guess we'll find out in the tournament.

But I do think McClellan gets overrated generally. He was a very good and extremely entertaining fighter, but the elites all would have been substantial favorites over him, IMO.

Prime for prime this would be a great bout. Gerald is Dangerous in the first half of the bout, but if Kessler gets past round six he could slowly start turning the tables like Benn did. Mc Clellan was definetly a great Middleweight but I'd rate him a good SuperMiddleweight. Still strenghth goes to Mc Clellan, staminia Kessler. I'd favor Mc Clellan but think that Kessler would have a great shot in this one.

This is a fight where G-man would be bringing the heat and Kessler would be jabbing, circling, and trying to slow the fight down.

I see McClellan breaking Kessler down and finishing him in 8 rounds.

You guys are both off. Gerald did come very close to stopping Benn though in the first round. The ref probably could've stopped the fight earlier for Benn. It is too bad that the ref didn't stop the fight because Benn wouldn't have to live with what happened to Gerald and Gerald wouldn't have to live with a severe handicapped.

I saw another poster saying that Gerald didn't have to work for his KO's but I had the first fight with Jackson 2-2 before Gerald stopped him. Gerald was actually a pretty good boxer but he had crazy power at 160 and really good power at 168. Benn said that he was never hit harder by any other man and that he didn't know that a man could hit that hard.

I still feel that Kessler would have a real good chance at winning this fight. He would have to get past the sixth round though. Still my pick is Gerald. I think that I was one of the few that picked Benn to defeat him. I always wanted to see a McClellan-Jones fight. That would've been really interesting.

A 168 lb Kessler is better than the Jackson G-man beat.

I'd like your thoughts on my other point- what fighter did Mclellan ever knock out that hadn't already been knocked out quickly?

Why does it matter? Because he never knocked out a solid chinned world class fighter in his entire career, and that was primarily at middleweight. He never beat a fighter with the chin and skills of Kessler.

That's why I can't believe people are so quick to think he KO's a big 168 pounder whose never been KO'd in his life.

    Kessler UD.

McClellan has done nothing to show that he can compete with Kessler if he is unable to knock him out. And frankly he wasn't a good enough boxer to get to Kessler. Kessler isn't THAT good, but McClellan is ridiculously overrated, and always has been.

Says who? Who the hell has Kessler beaten to be worthy of this praise?Kessler's whole career has been based on losing a clear decision to Calzaghe and a cool tattoo.:yep
