After reading the stuff about gerald mclellan it got me thinking about michael watson another unfortunate fighter who suffered similair injuries. Who wins this one at 160? Would this be an easy one for the G-MAN?

tricky one, you would have expected benn to blast him away, and look what happened. it might have been the same result with mclennan.

If i recall correctly McCallum beat Watson's ass i think it was televised here in the states. Watson seemed a little bit brittle to me but was great on the European Level--not sure if he ever actually defeated any other good American fighters during his prime but i dont think so.

i think people dont understand watson he was a great fighter who wasnt credited for. he was the closest thing to winky wright but with that he had a great right hand and an amzing jab.hard to stop hard to hit hard to box against.

mcCallum won but watson was under prepared. remember that the benn watson fight was about benn coming to world stager just somthing to show how great a ko artist he is. but for watson it wasnt a commonwealth belt it was to win a world class credentials i mena he had maybe the best one sided displays against benn and eubank looked awful against him mcCallum didnt "beat his ass" it was a technical fight against a weak unprepared and wham a mcCallum hook stopped him. just unlucky

    Good one mate.

Watson would decision or stop G Man.

G gets all wild, doesn't find a home for his shots and then the tide turns on him.

Curious how someone can say Watson was underprepared for McCallum--it was the biggest and most important fight on an international level and he comes in unprepared? unless it is injuries anda desire to go through the fight regardless....I like Watson had heard great things about him before the McCallum fight but was dissapointed that the fight was in my opinion a one sided affair for most of it--of course it was a long time ago--the three Brits of this era will be known from the american perspective (except Benn) as, potential but untested, since Watson post Benn and Eubank never fought the Americans.

I can see Watson withstanding the early barrage, and outboxing McClellan like he did Benn, but this time to win a decision.

Come on I know I'm late to the party :yep

Watson is ALWAYS measured on his bloody loss to McCallum when in reality that was not Watson at his best.

He had been out of the ring for nearly a year, he had just had the flu AND had a fractured nose from sparring. Watson was by no means on form for that fight.

Michael was favourite to beat McCallum too though that really underestimated McCallum given his place as a HOF fighter.

What we've got to ask ourselves is ...

.....'How would McClellan have done against McCallum'?

I saw no evidence that the G Man would have fared better than Watson.

It would be a great fight and if both were on form, either man could win.
