It's impossible to tell until Golovkin faces better competition.

I don't think Golovkin is that easy to hit, he wouldn't get picked off like McClellan in the second round v Benn for example.

Golovkin only stands in if he's comfortable taking his opponents power.

People try to discredit Golovkin who's a small-framed MW who comes into the ring at about the same weight on fight night as a lot of LMWs by saying that he's fought lots of LMWs, but McClellan was a f*cking massive framed MW who fought a lot of LMWs or blown up LMWs.

What is the point of these dumbass threads! Only way of getting the answers to these questions is with a damn time machine.

FWIW however I gotta go with GGG. G-man's only really good wins were Julian Jackson x2 (I don't even rank Mugabi - another guy who looked great smashing journeyman but fell short when he stepped up). Golovkin also would never have lost to likes of Ralph Ward or Dennis Milton.

Take JJ outta McClellans resume and you're left with a record that makes Golovkin look like an ATG.

G man had losses before he lost to Benn, so...let's not act like there's no way GGG beats him.

I'm ready to concede their chins were comparable.

    But their defense, obviously, isn't.

Power is nowhere near equal .

G man had devastating punching power .

Golovkin has Great punching power .

You see the difference there .

In a fight between the 2 , Golovkin wont last 2 rnds .

You can have all the power in the world, unless you can land it, it's of no use.
GGG has the chin , the defense and boxing IQ to grind down the G man.

I'm not saying that's what would have happened, but let's give each man his dues.

  11. McClellan was a massive middleweight taking bombs off of Jackson and Benn triple g is a small middleweight I think he'd have a lot of trouble triple g is usually the one pressing the action but when a bigger guy with more punching power is the aggressor coming out swinging bombs and you have the be the back peddler how long do you last.
Could go either way but I give the g-man an edge.

    Fair enough.
I think the difference between the two is Clellan fell in love with his power while neglecting defense.

GGG is a more technical fighter, and much of his power comes from his timing, positionning and anticipating.

Both of them have sparred much bigger men than them and held their own.

Except he wasn't knocking guys out in the amateurs as GGG did.
Mc Clellan was known in the amateurs as a good boxer more than as a KO machine.
