Gerald Washington: American heavyweight contender

I knew a guy who used to post here who kept mixing up "his" and "he's" too.

You do realise with a name so obvious that the minute IB sees you on any thread hes just going to ban you again right?

 

Because whilst everyone else was talking about Washington's attributes as a fighter, he has posted some bull**** about his not going past American level, and kept repeating it, rather than talk the fighter.

I do apologise on Hughie Fury not being Tyson's brother, hardly a major mistake, when I all I said is that I haven't seen him fight. On Joshua, are you disputing that he is raw and unproven?

As for Tyson Fury - he is no longer a prospect, he is an established heavyweight in a division lacking depth. Top 3 heavyweight rating is ridiculous, considering he has never beaten a top 10 heavyweight, would you really rank him above Pulev, Stiverne and Povetkin? I guess thought in today's division you can have very limited fighters such as Fury, Wilder, etc. ranked in the top 10 - so I guess you can rank those as top prospects, I am probably spoiled by a much stronger era in that division.

 

Even Samuel Morse thinks he telegraphs that right hand.

TBH Haye has to be a disappointment. He either should have stayed at CW or showed more guts at HW. His performance vs Wlad was awful. If he took more chances - and he had to - he might have come close to an upset, or at least made it a more entertaining fight. Instead he was in survival mode 90% of the fight.

And do you really think Haye is clearly better then Fury? I think if Fury survives the early rounds his chances to UD or TKO Haye increases by the round.

 

After watching breazeale's fight with Nagy. I would say breazeale actually has good in fighting skills and better balance/footwork. He's no riddick bowed but he can fight on the inside. That's something Wilder and Washington can't do.

I heard it was close.

Former light heavyweight Antonio Tarver shut Aguilera out at 42 years old. So did another former light heavyweight in Tomasz Adamek, biologically 35 but much older in ring toll. Chris Arreola knocked him out in 3. Dominic Breazeale, with less pro experience (and less sparring legends surrounding him) than Washington, shut him out just a few months ago.

Not very encouraging for El Gallo Negro.

He looks big and strong, but a little stiff, and needs work on balance.

 

Haye has been a huge fraud heavyweight wise and I totally agree with you on the Wlad fight, but I do think he is a good fighter.

I think Haye will knock out Fury, who looks susceptible to the right hand and his chin is not very good. I think we will see a repeat of the Haye v Chisora fight.
