Am I missing something? Kownacki fought a close one with Charles Martin, Washington is bigger and longer than Martin with better fundamentals and a much better jab. Was doing pretty well against Wilder until he got caught. Washington, with his 3” height and 6” reach advantage, should be able to box effectively at range for ten rounds without getting clocked too bad, and Kownacki doesn’t have close to the kind of game changing power Wilder does.

Please talk me out of putting a large sum of money on Washington here.

I think Washington was giving a tough fight to Wilder up until he got stopped (but is that really an achievement?) but so was Szpilka and Kownacki stopped Szpilka.

It depends on Washington's chin. But to think that Washington has the ability to keep Kownacki at bay I think is a fundamental error. Kownacki knows how to land and has a great offense. Unless Washington has the power, which he truly does not, he won't be able to stop Kownacki from hitting him.

I'd sightly favor Kow, but at 5 to 1 odds I would put some on the capital state's son.

The odds are definitely too wide but I’m pretty sure kownacki will still win. Washington has a jab but I doubt he’s good enough to keep the effectiveness up for 10 rounds and kownacki will have a lot of success mid to late rounds and will probably stop him.

Gotta see the weigh-in first. If Kownacki has decided to put on some "extra muscle" again it could be a long night for him.

My money would be on Kownacki but nice odds on the American. Maybe worth a few quid but i myself wouldnt dump a whole load of money on Washington to win. But thats me and im a bit of a weak fairy when it comes to giving my money away. Has Washington even fought for a while? I cant be bothered to go on Boxrec but i cant remember the last time he fought.

Washington will be walked down like he was vs Miller and for the same reasons. Poor footwork, so can't get out of the way, a very average jab with little power so again unable to keep range, lack of overall power so unable to make Kownacki back down.

The Wilder fight flattered Washington, his mediocre jab was enough to befuddle Wilder but against an opponent who won't flinch from it, it poses little threat.

I think Kownacki stops him inside 8 rounds.

Washington is decent but tbh same second he gets hurt his mind and body doest not recover. He is fragile and slows down before half mark of the fight. I predict him to get stopped again just because he is mentally weaker and Kownacki will surely bring some constant heat.

And to make clear: I don't think much of Kownacki but this is his fight.

This is my worry but Martin is arguably weaker minded and just as fragile, and he lasted the distance without any major scares. But you’re right, one has to give Kownacki the edge here. His superior stamina should be the difference in a close fight.

Washington is nearly 37 years old. He is solid but nothing special, lacking stamina, power and movement. And this is pretty much the whole story here. You need exactly those three things to keep Kownacki off: Power to rock/hurt him as the Pole has a granit chin. Stamina to be there if Kownacki slows down as he usually does after 5-6 rounds. AND movement to avoid the pressure. Washington doesn't have those abilities. Especially Washingtons stamina is probably worse than Kownackis.

I agree Kownacki is overrated as **** but he should have enough to beat Washington who went life and death with Wesley Nofire ffs.

I can't see Washington winning a 10 rounder vs. Kownacki. Maybe a 4 rounder. Washington is overrated due to winning a couple of rounds vs. Wilder in a hyper cautious fight where Wilder needed a few rounds to figure out how to fight a guy who has almost the same size like himself because he only fought old shot slow small bums most of the time.

The pretty much sums up by thoughts on this fight. I will add that Washington just isn't a natural fighter, Kownacki is.

Bad style match for Washington he is gunna get stopped. You might not win if you box with Washington because he likes a cagey fight, you have to run him over and put him under pressure, he ain’t got the heart to stick it out, he showed against that Mansour and Miller
