Pretty much. There are still idiots on here you suggest that Calazghe always ducked Sven Ottke when Ottke would never go near Joe in a million years.
German boxing is a disgrace. Just look at the Ottke v Robin Reid fight,which is by far the worst I've ever seen

 

I don't recall which edition of boxing monthly it was, but there was an interview with Sven Ottke's trainer, who with a lamentive tone, stated that he would have loved for Ottke to have tested his mettle against Calzaghe - but he wasn't interested as he wanted to remain as the IBF champion.

I think German boxing could be brilliant, but lets itself down with corruption - but I suppose that is how the mainland Europeans (generally) are in all walks of life, not just boxing.

Look at the swiz that is the EU, and how much of our hard earned cash goes into some 80 odd year old dodderer deciding that we should all buy ham or beef in metric as opposed to imperial. I mean, who gives a **** - 'a quarter of ham please pal' trips of the tongue much better than 'can I have 100 grams please - erm, no - a bit more please' does!

I find it funny that Ottke (a retired boxer) is still in discussion but I don't see the hundreds of 'DLH-Sturm robbery', 'US corruption' and 'ban American boxing' threads (Oscar, an active fighter, is in control of the largest boxing promotion in the world)...

 

There has always been robberies in boxing, and probably always will be!

I suppose the rules have changed since then, but Cooper vs Ali I could be considered a robbery - had that been today he wouldn't have been saved by the bell, he would have been waved off!

DLH Sturm I haven't seen in full, whilst Ottke Reid makes me sick every time I have the misfortune to see.

 

Totally, Strum got the bums rush no doubt but ffs the Ottke / Reid fight was a joke I've never seen anything like it.

Then again when Johny Nelson fought Cantatore in Italy , when Nelson was hurt the time keeper let the round go on for an extra minute and a half so the Italians are just as bad.

Hmm Germans and Italians what else did they have in common again ??
