blockbuster matchups in america do bigger money than any german fight .

as to american tv running much bigger shows , in what context are you talking.

bigger domestic tv audience `s ?

    bigger worldwide audience`s ?

there is hardly a fight worth its name now in america that is not PPV with its 100,000 to 300,000 average tv audiences.

maybe ok for the tv station

    maybe ok for the promoter

maybe ok for the fighter finacially

but as an advertisment as being the center of world boxing having a few hundred fans in attendence and a few hundred thousand watching compared to perhaps the 20,000,000 europeans plus who would have watched vitali v gomez in germany on saturday live on tv , is it really credible not to say germany has an important part to play in world boxing and that it is a genuine rival in world importance to the american boxing product currently on offer to american boxing fans .

IMO axe point is valid , and to think otherwise is tothink of the past and what american tv once was and not what it has become.

yes HBO has huge financial input and is very important in making big american fights happen, but boxing has moved on hugely in the last 20 years and it influence in world terms has been diluted by the german tv market.

The chances of a robbery are higher than that in the USA. And don't say its not. German based judges are all for the hometown hero and give out robberies. Does it even occur that possibly the biggest robbery of last year(Valuev - Holyfield) took place by the Germans? Germany is known for giving gifts, and history proves it.

Watch some Valuev, Ottke, Williams - Airich, Wlodarczyk - Melkomian etc.. fights.

And don't give me that Valuev - Holyfield was in Switzerland ****.

Valuev right now is the fighter that gets the most gifts.

So, which of the judges in the Valuev/Holyfield fight are you claiming to be 'German based'?

Germany does put on some decent EVENTS but U.S. is still definetly the center of the Boxing world even though it isn't the most popular sport in our country. Anyway, the U.S. puts on better EVENTS.

Boxing much more now than ever is a GLOBAL sport. Anyone who denies this is an idiot.

  8. I was getting ready to watch the Klit v Gomez fight on Saturday - but my amplifier was having issues and couldn't get the sound of the crowd to come through my speakers. I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out the problem. Then I realised the problem wasn't with my stereo - it was with the German crowd; they weren't making any noise!!

When I watch a fight on HBO, held in the US, there seems to be a real atmosphere and buzz in the stadium. Lots of noise. It didn't feel like that on Saturday. Maybe HBO pump more crowd noise into the broadcast? Maybe there was an issue with my stereo? I dunno but I felt like there was a lack of a crowd on Saturday. I could see them, but I couldn't hear them!

Nope...watch the Vitali vs. Peter pre-show/walk-in - walk-ins in general over the last few years...Germany is all over it --- btw, Michalzcewski vs. Roccigiani was the best in terms of atmosphere with more than 25.000 jeering fans... :good

Well maybe not German based but they were certainly bought out by the German promoters for damn sure. You know what I mean.

And im not just talking about Holyfield in particular. Watch the Ruiz fights too. Even that old **** Larry Donald beat him.

The only time I see Valuev losing is to another German Based fight, like Chagaev, which he did. But til then, you can easily bet on Valuev vs anyone he fights that isnt German based.

Doesn't really make any difference where the fights are held then if the international judges are bribed?

our sport has been put back 50years by some off the disgracful decisions that go on in germany to have the cheek to claim it is the hotbed of boxing is as laughable as the career of sven ottke, you have to consider that alot of these heavyweight fights go out worldwide and the casual boxing fan is put off and sometimes lost for ever when they see the pathetic tactics used by the likes of kliticho when he was allowed to push down/palm every puch and jab without throwing any real punches then still winning by a landside....

    I agree.

The Germans get massive viewing figures. Boxing is big there. And big money.

They have a lot of the best fighters in the world and will pick up many more of the best prospects in the world due to their proximity and promotional ties to Eastern European boxing.

    It cannot be disputed.
